Division/Site Specific Information:

Our Mississauga facility covers all phases of drug product development from early-phase formulation development to clinical trial material to commercial supply in the same plant using scalable equipment for non-GMP and GMP work.

As Manager, PMO at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will guide strategic initiatives focused technical leadership with project and people management to advance innovation and operational excellence. You will oversee complex, cross-functional projects while supporting a team of program managers and technical specialists. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external clients, you will ensure successful delivery of programs that align with our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

Day in the Life:

Manage and lead all aspects of the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure programs and projects meet organization goals and requirements, provide leadership access to project portfolio health, and implement processes for outstanding project execution. Serve as a Trusted Advisor to leadership at strategic and operational levels. Coordinate teams to resolve project issues as the need arises and ensure continuity throughout the full project lifecycle. Report directly to the site Vice President and General Manager and accountable for the creation and maintenance of project management governance and standards as it directly relates to the PMO.

Essential Functions: 

  • Define, maintain, and implement project management methodology, including processes, tools, metrics and polices to ensure efficiency, quality and business success.
  • Build the organization to provide Project Management services, accountable to ensure that projects are delivered on time, meeting commercial steady state criteria.
  • Lead the organization with a customer-first demeanor and effective communications.
  • Design and implement the operating cadence, including running coordination meetings, project updates, and overall oversight of projects.
  • Drive cross-functional planning and effective execution through the development and monitoring of fully integrated, project specific timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure projects are staffed with the right personnel with vital skills, experience, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Forge tight partnerships with cross-functional leaders and complete activities in a productive and collaborative setting.
  • Define and analyze metrics that form the foundation of world-class execution and ensure the success of project delivery.
  • Implement process to pro-actively identify and resolve risks and dependencies that could prevent successful program execution.
  • Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards, and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate colleagues to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with and advise colleagues on administrative policies and procedures.

Keys to Success:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Masters of Business Administration (MBA) preferred. 

Experience:

Minimum 8 years’ experience in business transformation, integration responsibilities

Previous project management/client interface experience required

Experience with budgeting and forecasting an asset.

Pharmaceutical or Contract Manufacturing industry experienced preferred

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Ability to quickly understand and adjust to changing business needs. Strong negotiating and influencing skills. Strong management skills and understanding of project management lifecycle. Ability to demonstrate active listening skills. Ability to communicate with clients and internal customers with challenging issues in a positive manner. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.  Proficiency with the English Language.

Compensation

The estimated annualized pay range for this position in Ontario is $94,100.00–$141,125.00.
