Manager – Project management site services

The Site Services Project Manager will be part of the Lilly Site Services team supporting the overall Alzey campus taking responsibility to deliver part of the Site Services scope. In addition, he will take responsibility for site related project management of capital projects, from the early conceptual phase (part of the Business plan cycle) to the execution completion. This position involves leveraging project management principles and expertise to lead site projects and to coach, train and mentor other site project managers or provide guidance to external PM workforce.  In addition, this position involves optimizing project approval and prioritization processes as well as producing and analyzing site service metrics data to drive continuous improvement in the areas of project planning, execution and closure.

  • Project management of specific facility and utility local capital projects, for increase and/or optimization of Lilly Alzey site and infrastructure and fit out of site functionality from the early conceptual phase (part of the Business plan cycle) to the execution completion.
  • Supervision and management of the site services project portfolio and related internal and external personnel and financial resources, introducing and monitoring relevant KPI
  • Accountable for maintaining the site services current project management and portfolio management processes, tools, education and metrics while working with site management to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide site management with key information to support both tactical and strategic decisions related to project prioritization, resource allocation and broader site initiatives such as business planning and shutdown timing.
  • Benchmark with areas external to the site to capitalize on replication opportunities and share best practices. 
  • Serve as project management consultant and mentor for other site project managers.
  • Identify interdependencies among projects across the site and facilitate collaboration between impacted project managers.
  • Develop and maintain safety and environmental execution plans for projects, ensuring compliance to safety and environmental external regulation and internal policies, procedures, and work rules for project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors during the entire project duration. Help in implementing in the project all HSE Corporate and Site Goals
  • Contribute to monitor campus projects throughout their life cycle, tracking and reporting metrics monthly, informing management on project issues and status, resource need and constraints, prioritization need.
  • Interact with other project managers within the company to share information and best practices, consulting/mentoring other site project managers when needed.  
  • Analyzing metrics and data to drive continuous improvement in the areas of site project planning, execution and closure.
  • Lead with a disciplined, structured project management approach and expertise projects team consisting of both Lilly and Non-Lilly professionals to safely achieve project objectives from conceptual design to execution completion. Project objectives are defined as: safety, asset capability or capacity, budget, schedule, and compliance with Company Policies and Procedures. 

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: minimum educational requirement to perform in the position
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent – Engineering or field related to project management, utilities or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English and German, ability to negotiate
  • Experience: minimum specific experience required to perform in the position.
  • 5 years+ of experience in large industrial manufacturing environment, preferably within pharmaceutical and cGMP, with related experience in major capital project delivery (10 MM+)

  • Master’s degree in project management, PMP certification, or MBA would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams and Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in project and program management tools and software (i.e. Smart Sheet)
  • Project coordination or management skills include the ability to lead teams to produce quality deliverables within established timeframes.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and present key information objectively to all levels of the organization including executive management.
  • Ability to negotiate with professionalism and influence.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to balance short term needs with long term business evolution.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers and partners.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiasm for changes, team spirit and flexibility
  • Experience in several of the following areas: Utilities, Automation, construction, construction quality, project controls, the engineering disciplines, safety, scheduling

  • Supervisor: Assoc. Director – Site Services
  • Shift: Day Shift, possible off-shift support.
  • Location: Alzey onsite
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, or projects.
  • Safety Consideration:  Onsite tasks require entering manufacturing areas which require wearing appropriate PPE.
