Manager, Pricing Strategy and Analytics

How you’ll make an impact:

The Manager Pricing Strategy and Analytics is an essential role for driving growth and profitability of the retail business.  As part of a high-performing team this role will evaluate pricing strategy from a customer stand-point, gather cross-functional partner input, build roadmap of changes, evaluate margin impact, and present options to leadership.  An ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation for analytics, be comfortable communicating with a cross functional team, and be able to extract strategic insights from large and diverse data sources.  Must be comfortable with a dynamic work environment where projects and priorities change with the pace of the business and include long term initiatives and quick wins. 

Support strategic initiatives & process improvement – 45%

  • Develop business case and project plan to migrate the pricing model and customer experience. 
  • Formulate strategies and vision for pricing advancement, segmentation, personalization, etc. connected to marketing strategies
  • Prepare leadership materials to support alignment and change management
  • Work with business partners to map out gaps and develop solutions, including costs and tradeoffs 
  • Create and prioritize development roadmap & partner with BI / IT to manage timing implications
  • Connect pricing data and analysis aligned to new business process 
  • Track progress and communicate new capabilities to stakeholders 

Support macro pricing and promotional strategy – 35%

  • Develop data driven pricing frameworks to support macro pricing decisions

  • Evaluate competitive landscape and assess pricing opportunities 
  • Leverage sales and customer data to assess and quantify the impact of pricing strategies 
  • Balance line structure (good / better / best) and discounting (clean tickets, mid-low, high-low) strategies 
  • Develop ad hoc analytics to support strategic business questions 
  • Establish and communicate success criteria related to pricing and sales strategies 
  • Inform and drive alignment on pricing strategy with senior leaders 
  • Partner with cross functional stakeholders to implement pricing strategies

Develop dashboards and data visualizations to support decision making – 20%

  • Define relevant performance metrics and track/measure success
  • Align competitive, internal, and external data sources to allow scaling of advanced analytics  
  •  Develop and systematically generate relevant reporting to support the communication of the initiative
  • Communicate key insights and decision criteria from data and visualizations

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics and/or Finance (MBA a plus) 

  • 4+ years of experience in multichannel or omnichannel pricing, promotion, digital merchandising, and/or finance roles
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau.  SQL / AWS experience is a plus 
  • Knowledge of pricing best practices, including competitive intelligence, business rules, price elasticity, forecasting and reporting 
  • Working knowledge of various competitive pricing and promotional strategies in an omnichannel setting
  • Ability to identify and understand customer and competitor behaviors, emerging trends and programs necessary to maximize revenue and margin
  • Excellent organizational skills, keen eye for details, and exceptional level of persistency, follow through, and self-motivation
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster relationships throughout the organization
  • High level of intellectual curiosity critical thinking
