What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a Manager, Portfolio Planning on the Strategy and Planning team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada. PBD&DT Operating Office is responsible for delivering critical data insights and operational support that drive strategic decision-making across our portfolio. You will work on Planview/MIS, Portfolio control, SAP report analysis, Tableau reports and contribute to executive and financial reporting. This role offers exposure to end-to-end data workflows, from collection and analysis to executive-ready visualizations, making a tangible impact on how RBC manages its project and vendor ecosystems.

What will you do?

  • Support and maintain MIS/Planview system operations and data integrity
  • Analyze portfolio data to identify trends, assess risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Reconcile the professional fees in MIS system against vendor invoices to ensure accuracy
  • Collaborate with finance partners to address inquiries regarding capitalization and impairment
  • Compile and visualize data for financial reporting, transforming raw data into compelling PowerPoint presentations
  • Identify and automate repetitive data processes to enhance operational efficiency
  • Develop dashboards and reports that track key performance indicators and critical business metrics
  • Execute data validation and quality assurance procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency
  • Document processes and findings to support knowledge transfer and continuous improvement
  • Engage with business partners to clarify requirements and ensure analytical accuracy and alignment

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on business/finance, data analytics, computer science, or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office – Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of Automation Tools, such as Power Automate
  • Knowledge of BI/Visualization Tools, such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Experience with Planview or similar project/portfolio management systems
  • SQL or Python scripting for data manipulation
  • Experience with financial or vendor management processes
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices
