Overview:

We are looking for a Manager of Platform Development to lead and grow a team of platform engineers focused on developer experience and productivity, enabling engineers to ship high-quality software quickly, safely, and at scale. You will mentor and develop your team while owning and driving roadmaps for internal platforms and developer tooling—including build/test systems, CI/CD, environments, and developer workflows. You will lead your team in building robust and scalable infrastructure that powers our development platforms and production systems, while enabling developers across the organization to build infrastructure in the same way. Your team is responsible for operational excellence and maintaining high availability of production systems. You will collaborate across Engineering teams, Security, and Product to deliver measurable improvements in developer efficiency and effectiveness.

What you will do:

  • Lead a platform engineering team and drive roadmaps for core internal platforms and developer tooling, including build/test infrastructure, CI/CD, and developer workflows.
  • Strategically design and maintain resilient production environments that ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and reliable service delivery.
  • Ensure operational excellence and platform reliability by establishing clear SLOs, robust observability, and incident/bug management practices, using data-informed decision making to identify friction points and drive continuous improvements.
  • Drive security governance and compliance initiatives across platform services and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams, Security Engineering, and Product to synthesize requirements and prioritize impactful investments.
  • Coach and develop engineers, including technical leads and senior engineers, through frequent feedback, technical guidance, and fostering a high-accountability, inclusive team culture.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, adjusting your approach as needed from strategic to technical deep dives.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development through mentoring, regular career check-ins, and development opportunities.

What we are looking for:

  • 1-3 years of experience directly managing software engineers, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and building strong team culture.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience building developer productivity tools and/or highly available platform services, with familiarity in areas like infrastructure, cloud, or internal developer tools.
  • Experience building and maintaining resilient production environments with a focus on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Practical experience with infrastructure and cloud technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and scalable infrastructure components (e. g., databases like Postgres/MySQL, distributed systems, or cloud resources).
  • Experience with chaos engineering, disaster recovery planning, or site reliability engineering practices.
  • Experience leading or working with globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
  • Strong communication skills, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate calmly and thoughtfully in complex and challenging situations, with comfort balancing technical depth and people leadership.
