Role & Responsibilities
- Manage staff, creating a strong team atmosphere. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and provide guidance, training and motivation as necessary to develop staff. Hire, evaluate and counsel personnel. Follow corporate performance management procedures per established Vanguard standards as required. Set performance standards, review performance, provide feedback, and recommend wage increases in accordance with all applicable Human Resource policies and procedures.
- Partner with the Total Rewards CoE Teams globally and Tier 1 Total Rewards & Employee Data Management Transaction Center to administer compensation, benefits, payroll and global mobility programs.
- Oversee the Global Payroll Specialists as they address escalated inquiries from the Crew Central Support Center. Manage the research and resolution of escalated crew inquiries. Oversee payroll and benefits support operations, including the resolution of issues in close collaboration with the Total Rewards CoE teams globally.
- Oversee payroll administration and liaise between various HR functions, Finance and Payroll vendors to support the processing of standard payroll and facilitate the resolution of escalated issues.
- Coordinate with the Vendor Management Team Lead to oversee the relationship with global payroll vendors and ensure that service delivery is in line with contractual agreements. Assess the workload and demands for optimal resourcing of the Global Payroll Services Team and adjust as needed.
- Partner with Regional Total Rewards Specialists, Regional Crew Central Specialists, and/or Regional HR Generalists to ensure the consistent delivery of payroll services throughout the regions.
- Oversee the preparation of required regulatory reporting for global payroll. Prepares analysis, projections and payroll reports on a routine and ad hoc basis. Provides ongoing information to management about compliance and project issues, makes appropriate decisions within scope of responsibilities. Coordinate the execution of all global payroll related Key Controls and evidence of their operating effectiveness.
- Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of global payroll services. Gather feedback on the delivery of these services and recommend feedback-driven opportunities for the Total Rewards CoE Teams globally and Tier 1 Total Rewards & Employee Data Management Transaction Center to address.
- Leads and/or participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A graduate degree in a business/ HR/ finance related field of concentration or equivalent combination of training and experience. At least one degree or diploma having MBA/ CA/ CMA or relevant professional degree/ certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience of which four years are progressive with experience of managing people, from which was gained a thorough understanding of one or more of the following specialties: organization development, manager/supervisor/crew development programs, or work-life programs.
- Knowledge of all applicable government rules and regulations, i.e., FLSA preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll policies and programs.
- Knowledge of compensation, benefits, mobility and/or payroll programs.
- Proven teamwork capabilities.
- Excellent project management skills, including planning and organizational skills.
- Attentive to details and deadlines.
- Experience with multi-state and global payroll processing is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communications/presentations, willingness to assist in areas outside of direct assignments when necessary, and commitment to self-improvement and completion of team objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to function in global, fast paced, ambiguous environment working with multiple and diverse responsibilities.
- People leadership skills including mentoring, training and day-to-day management of direct reports.
