The Global Payroll team is expanding in APAC and we are looking for an experienced Manager, Payroll APAC to join us in Singapore. Reporting to the Manager, International Payroll Operations, the ideal candidate will own end-to-end payroll delivery across Airbnb’s Asia-Pacific entities, brings deep regional legislative expertise, and thrives in a fast-paced, globally distributed team.
The Difference You Will Make:
As APAC Payroll Manager you will be the primary owner of payroll operations across Airbnb’s Asia-Pacific entities — ensuring every employee in the region is paid accurately, compliantly, and on time. You will have broad exposure to Airbnb’s Finance, Talent, and Global Mobility functions, and will work closely with in-country vendors, internal stakeholders, and the global CloudPay and Workday platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep APAC payroll expertise, hands-on CloudPay and Workday experience, and the collaborative spirit to excel in a fully distributed international team.
A Typical Day:
- Owning end-to-end payroll processing for all Airbnb APAC entities — including Singapore, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, and China — ensuring accurate and on-time delivery every cycle.
- Managing all employee lifecycle changes — new hires, leavers, promotions, and compensation updates — ensuring accurate and timely reflection in both CloudPay and Workday.
- Serving as the regional subject matter expert for CloudPay and Workday, maintaining accurate configuration of country-specific payroll rules, tax logic, and data mappings across all APAC entities.
- Ensuring the Workday–CloudPay integration operates accurately for all APAC entities, proactively identifying and resolving data discrepancies before payroll processing.
- Maintaining live, current knowledge of payroll legislation, tax law changes, and statutory filing requirements across all active APAC jurisdictions.
- Managing relationships with in-country payroll vendors across APAC, acting as the expert coordination layer between Airbnb, CloudPay, and local providers.
- Preparing and submitting payroll reports, tax filings, and statutory payments across all APAC entities, ensuring full audit readiness and a complete data trail for every payroll cycle.
- Partnering with Talent, Finance, Global Mobility, and Tax to maintain accurate employee data and resolve payroll-related queries promptly and professionally.
- Maintaining and continuously improving country-specific process documentation and runbooks for all APAC entities.
- Identifying and driving process improvement and automation opportunities across APAC payroll operations.
- Back up to the India payroll Manager so knowledge of India payroll.
Your Expertise:
- 6–8 or more years of payroll experience, with at least 3–4 years in a dedicated APAC payroll management role
- Hands-on, demonstrable experience with CloudPay — including configuration, data mapping, and processing in an international payroll context
- Hands-on, demonstrable experience with Workday Payroll or Workday HCM, including experience with the Workday–CloudPay integration or equivalent system integration
- Deep knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory compliance across multiple APAC jurisdictions — Singapore essential; Australia, Japan, India, and/or South Korea highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail, analytical acumen, intellectual curiosity, and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent payroll cycles across different legislative frameworks
- Strong experience managing in-country payroll vendors and third-party service providers across the APAC region
- Strong analytical, process mapping, and procedural documentation skills
- Ability to manage confidential data professionally and operate with a high degree of integrity
- Strong written and oral communication skills; comfortable working across time zones and cultures in a fully distributed global team
