What this job requires:

Operational Management

Manage tax professionals and ensures strategic oversight of payroll tax processes, compliance, and system management.

Foster collaboration across HR, Finance, and external vendor relationships

Support departmental goals, performance metrics, and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Support performance reviews and manage staffing needs for the payroll tax team

High proficiency in guiding and advising in resolving complex payroll queries across Tier 2-3

Support HR change and transformational efforts impacting the function and business

Align with Quality Framework and own Quality check from payroll tax risk and control perspective

Strategic Tax Operations

Oversee comprehensive payroll tax compliance across all federal, state, and local jurisdictions

Direct company-wide state and local tax registrations and quarterly government reporting initiatives

Lead SOX audit compliance efforts and coordinate with internal and external auditors

Manage relationships with ADP, W4 vendors, and other critical service providers

Systems & Process Management

Provide strategic oversight of ADP Global View and Smart Compliance implementations

Direct testing protocols for federal, state, and local tax updates and system rate accuracy

Ensure robust documentation and continuous improvement of all payroll tax procedures

Lead special projects and system enhancement initiatives

Complex Tax Resolution

Oversee US tax equalization settlements and international assignment tax matters

Direct US Hypo withholding tax calculations and IRS payment/refund processes

Manage complex multi-state payroll tax scenarios and dispute resolution

Provide executive-level reporting on payroll tax operations and compliance status

Qualifications:
 

Required Experience

8-10 years of progressive payroll tax experience with demonstrated managerial responsibilities

Extensive multi-state and local payroll tax expertise in multi-national organizations

Proven track record managing payroll tax teams and complex compliance operations

Advanced knowledge of ADP Global View, Smart Compliance, and enterprise payroll systems

Core Competencies

Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Excellent tax research abilities using Bloomberg Tax and similar resources

Strong project management and change leadership experience

  Ability to operate effectively under tight deadlines while managing multiple strategic initiatives
