The Manager, Patient Access & Reimbursement Operations will lead a team responsible for specialty pharmacy patient access, reimbursement execution, and affordability programs supporting rare disease and high-cost therapies.
You’ll own the end-to-end referral-to-therapy process, including benefit verification, prior authorizations, appeals, pharmacy coordination, and patient assistance programs while driving daily operations, team performance, and workflow optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team supporting patient access, reimbursement, and affordability programs
Oversee daily workflows, staffing, training, performance, and escalations
Provide direct oversight of reimbursement workflows (benefits, PAs, appeals, PAP)
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex access and claim issues
Optimize referral-to-approval workflows to reduce time to therapy
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Account Management, Implementation, and Client Teams
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and SOP requirements
Support client discussions with operational and reimbursement insights
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 6+ years of professional experience and 0-2 years of supervisory experience.
Critical Skills:
Reimbursement experience including, benefit verification, prior authorizations, appeals patient affordability / PAP programs
Demonstrated ability to coach teams through complex reimbursement and access scenarios with direct ownership of daily workflow, escalations, and performance
Experience analyzing operational and financial performance data
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Additional Skills/Knowledge
Rare disease, oncology, or ultra-high-cost therapy programs
Experience working with manufacturers and specialty pharmacies
Workflow standardization across multi-site operations
Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
Ability to manage complex issues, function independently, demonstrate flexibility, as well as the ability to work effectively with remote internal and external teams.
