Support Center - Irving
The Manager - Packaging leads private brand packaging through the development & execution of cost-effective, structurally sound, environmentally sustainable retail packaging to maintain & improve all private branded product. This position is a Brand Ambassador that collaborates & supports our cross-divisional teams, including product development, design, trend, marketing, packaging suppliers, vendors, global sourcing, and product integrity.
Major Activities
- Develop a strategic vision for the department to ensure private brand packaging is of the highest quality, meets regulatory requirements, reflects our brand strategies, and drives sales for the company.
- Lead communication with internal team, outside vendors, key stakeholders & cross-divisional partners.
- Brand Ambassador that oversees the development of all private brands, brand intent, packaging style guides & execution to maintain the integrity & consistency of our brands.
- Drive timelines and communicate to all key stakeholders for assurances on project delivery.
- Lead the development and revisions of structural concepts and is impactful and influential in communicating to guide the buy-in of relevant teams.
- Champions change to private brand packaging. Recognize opportunities that will build brand awareness, drive sales, fund our company growth, and will appeal to our customers.
- Creates a vision and style for photography for packaging. Attends and leads photo shoots for projects to create inspiring and engaging packaging.
- Review all pieces of packaging to ensure design and copy consistency.
- Leverage consumer insights and evaluate competitive landscapes to develop/recommend/implement private brand design solutions that will drive retail sales.
- Conducts market research on existing packaging, and conducts monthly store walks for competitive benchmarking identifying new packaging opportunities.
- Create packaging mock-ups as needed to ensure branding consistency.
- Partner with Legal & Product Integrity Teams & confirm packaging reflects legal and regulatory standards and passes appropriate quality specifications as established by the packaging manager.
- Manage department budget and process invoices.
- Work with IT on the implementation of technology systems critical to the delivery of packaging requirements & integrated with the PLM system.
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of related work experience in packaging design, management, or branding
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Production/Print Management
- Microsoft Office
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
- Minimum 7 years of experience with a major retailer in design, project management, production and print.
- Must have experience and a strong understanding of the regulatory guidelines for packaging and related laws in both the US and Canada
- Must possess a high level of knowledge in branding, design, production, and print, and an overall expert in packaging development
Other
- Structural Engineering & Brand Development is a plus
