Manager, Operational Analysis

Job Responsibilities

The Manager, Operational Analysis will play a key role in overall strategic management of the organization to ensure our business goals and objectives are attained. 

  • Identify and analyze key business drivers — both financial and nonfinancial. 
  • Oversee and analyze detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. 
  • Serve as the primary point of communication and liaison with Corporate Finance, Research, Operations, and Koppers Performance Chemicals (KPC) management.” 
  • Continually refine and enhance internal reporting, including new metrics and analyses, to provide deeper insight into the business. 
  • Prepare comparative cost estimates on new products and/or modifications and improvements to existing products. 
  • Develop and maintain sales, cost, and profitability models. 
  • Prepare and evaluate strategic plans on time horizons for up to five years. 
  • Calculate monthly rebates and validate customer requests. On a quarterly basis, review the rebate accrual for completeness with accounting. 
  • Oversee customer incentive accruals and disbursements and forecast future payments. 
  • Maintain and update a complete listing of all customer contracts, pricing, customer development, rebates, and cash discount programs.  
  • Initiate sales budgeting by customer, plant, month, and item number. 
  • Produce ad hoc sales reporting by product and customer, net of all reductions after rebates.    
  • Lead local and global meetings ensuring informative and collaborative decision making. 
  • Responsible for weekly/monthly/ad-hoc collection, consolidation, interpretation and reporting of global financials, forecasts and target KPI’s.  
  • Prepares quarterly reports and other analysis for President, Koppers Performance Chemicals. 
  • Prepares reports for executive team meetings as requested. 
  • Analyze and prepare financial business models for potential acquisition targets 
  • Communicate effectively within the organization and with external stakeholders. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline from an accredited college or university 
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline from an accredited college or university preferred 
  • 10 years of finance, business administration, or related discipline 
  • Management experience in a manufacturing, distribution / operations environment, or equivalent required.  
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred 
  • CPA preferred  
  • Experience with an ERP/accounting environment 
  • Advanced Excel and database modeling experience required (PowerQuery) 
  • Full cycle accounting management experience (revenue and inventory experience required) 
  • Standard cost and multi-level bill-of-material experience preferred  
  • Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages competing deadlines, and delivers critical analyses and reports on demand. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Willing to work as a member of a team 
  • Experience in systems analysis, design, implementation, and data modeling 
  • Ability to effectively work with and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive materials and information
