The Manager of Product Engineering will lead one of multiple software and data engineering teams responsible for building, operating, and enhancing Sourcewell’s core data platforms, including SQL Server, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, and Boomi. The team develops and maintains the integrations and pipelines that connect these systems to enterprise applications such as Salesforce, Workday, and Cvent, as well as other SaaS and data products that support analytics, reporting, and emerging AI-driven capabilities across the organization.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of strategy for an important area of responsibility within a function, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider functional strategy.
Maintain an established set of enterprise architecture artifacts.
Drive advances in technologies and architectures to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities, either through improvements to the efficiency of the technology environment or through those that reduce the total cost of technology operations. Recommend and participate in activities related to the design, development, and maintenance of the digital capabilities within the enterprise architecture.
Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments to design solutions in line with industry best practice and provide a third-line point of escalation for appropriate global infrastructure solutions.
Develop existing and new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement. Develop new applications to meet customer requirements.
Take responsibility for developing and delivering a key element of the organization's data management system.
Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and evaluate their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.
Participate in the selection of external consultants or advisers to deliver key projects and/or ad hoc services; ensure that business objectives and requirements are clearly understood and monitor outcomes, taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
Advance the organization's adoption of modern AI capabilities by guiding teams in evaluating, designing, and implementing AI-enabled product features, datadriven automation, and generative AI solutions that enhance digital products and internal operations. Ensure AI initiatives align with enterprise architecture, data governance, and security standards while supporting product roadmaps and long-term product strategy.
Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions to build their capabilities. Provide training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
Explain the local action plan, to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done, and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organization's strategy, mission, and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
Track budgets and report variances to more senior colleagues.

Additional Job Description:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, information systems, OR a combination of post-secondary training, professional education, and related experience equivalent to four (4) years.
Ten (10) years of experience in related roles; of which the total years of experience include:
At least two (2) years of demonstrated experience leading engineering work, including planning and managing technical resources, guiding design and development initiatives, coordinating work across teams, mentoring engineers, or serving as a technical lead.
Experience contributing to system architecture, solution design, API development, or technical roadmaps in either software or data engineering environments.
Experience using modern engineering practices and tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews. - Experience with relational or cloud-based databases and modern data platforms, including proficiency in SQL and technologies such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, data warehouses, data lakes, or comparable technologies.
Experience working with or supporting solutions that leverage modern AI capabilities, such as automated decisioning, predictive analytics, or generative AI technologies.
Experience implementing or supporting integrations across enterprise SaaS systems such as Salesforce, Workday, Cvent, or similar platforms; and/or experience with integration and data-movement technologies such as Boomi, Azure Data Factory (ADF), SSIS, Databricks, or comparable tools.
Experience with one or more modern programming languages, frameworks, or engineering stacks (e.g., C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, PHP, or similar).
Experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable, secure solutions.
Managerial experience: Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes (13 months to 3 years)

This is a remote position, and is subject to Sourcewell's telecommuting policies and procedures.
On occasion, may be asked to travel to Staples, MN for meetings, professional development or team activities, up to two to three (2-3) times per year. Notice will be given ahead of time.
