In recent years, Double Good has seen 40% year over year growth, and we’re excited about our future! We’re excited about the possibility of you joining our mission. We are looking for a Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to join our growing FSQR team.

Location - This role will be onsite at our Burr Ridge production facility.

About the role:

The Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) will be the subject matter expert for food safety and quality at Double Good.  This role is responsible for developing, executing and maintaining food safety and quality programs to ensure internal standards align with DG values, regulatory requirements and customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

Lead cross-functional initiatives to maintain safe operations, drive continuous improvement and uphold certification/regulatory requirements in an effort to maintain or improve product quality.

Food safety & Compliance

  • Develop, maintain and enforce food safety programs such as HARPC, GMPs and Food Defense/Intentional Adulteration
  • Oversee regulatory compliance with FDA, FSMA and other state/local agencies
  • Responsible for ensuring timely response to food safety incidents, including CAPAs, root cause and effective communication and guidance
  • Act as the primary recall coordinator. Coordinate mock recall activities and ensure sufficient traceability up and down the supply chain.

Quality Assurance and Control

  • Define and manage a Quality program that balances Quality Control and Quality Assurance, to support a Quality at Scale culture
  • Define testing standards that evaluate raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods with the required frequency to confirm compliance with internal quality specifications.  
  • Ensure root cause investigations are conducted of quality issues, and drive improvements as identified to reduce quality defects and scrap
  • Define and document a supplier quality program, including qualifications for new suppliers, risk assessments of raw and direct materials, sampling requirements, supplier verification activities, and a supplier non-compliance process

Documentation and Reporting

  • Define, measure and assess food safety and quality KPIs
  • Prepare routine KPI reports including nonconformance trends, spec adherence, consumer complaints and audit results
  • Manage the document control program and maintain the document registry for operations

Training and Leadership

  • Define training requirements and source appropriate training materials for food safety, sanitation, allergen control, quality procedures, and related regulatory requirements
  • Develop, support and manage the FSQA team members, including resource planning and scheduling, initiative prioritization, personal development plan management, coaching, and performance management
  • Responsible for management of the department budget, including requisition review, supply and contract/vendor spend and annual planning

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary FSQA liaison for cross-functional initiatives such as continuous improvement projects, change management, and capital planning
  • Partner with production, product development, continuous improvement, supply chain, and maintenance and engineering teams to ensure food safety and quality standards are met
  • Work with customer operations on complaint reporting, resolution and customer supporting documentation

Experience & Skills we value:

  • Extensive understanding of food safety laws, regulations, and best practices, including FDA/USDA, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs and GFSI
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with both front-line employees and leadership
  • Success in assessing risk and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Strong attention to detail and a compliance mindset
  • Ability to work cross functionally and influence without authority
  • <7+ years progressive experience in food manufacturing, processing or quality assurance environment
  • Experience developing food safety and quality control programs, and defining key performance indicators
  • Consumer complaint, supplier quality, environmental monitoring program management
  • GFSI-scheme auditing or program management (BRCGS preferred)
  • Required License and/or certification: PCQI, HACCP
  • Required Education: Bachelor's in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field

Nice to have and/or you’ll learn: 

  • Experience in product development, formulation, and/or specification development
  • Proficiency in QA/QMS software, ERP Systems and visual factory software
  • Experience managing and coaching a team, including the ability to create workforce development plans
  • Background in statistical process control, Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Preferred License and/or certification: GFSI-scheme auditor, Six Sigma Green Belt

Base Pay range for this position:

  • $90,000 - $126,000 annually
  • Target Annual Bonus: 20% of base salary

The final discretionary compensation that will be offered for this role depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.

This position requires current authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship, including support for F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT), STEM OPT extensions, or other temporary work authorization programs.
