The finance team at The New York Post is seeking an experienced Manager of Financial Reporting to oversee key reporting and consolidation activities across multiple business units. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to provide strategic financial support, and leadership in managing a small team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior management, ensure accurate financial reporting, and help drive financial performance and accountability across departments. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the consolidation of financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow, for budgeting, long-range planning, monthly closes, and weekly estimates.

  • Oversee the reporting of all financial statements to News Corp and The New York Post senior management, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Serve as the key financial partner to the New York Post Affiliate/Commerce business, providing comprehensive reporting, strategic analysis, and accounting support.

  • Act as the primary financial liaison for Information Technology, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Consolidate and report on the Advertising Sales team’s performance against weekly budgets, ensuring accurate tracking and insights.

  • Lead the development of reporting and accounting processes for new products, driving consistency and efficiency.

  • Serve as the primary contact for all corporate reporting requests and ensure compliance with corporate standards.

  • Coordinate and oversee the monthly operational results reporting for senior management at The New York Post.

  • Develop and distribute planning schedules for budget, outlooks, and monthly closes to the FP&A team and Directors of Billing and Accounts Payable.

  • Lead the preparation of the quarterly results presentations for both The New York Post senior management and News Corp. leadership.

  • Manage and mentor two direct reports, providing guidance and oversight to ensure smooth operations.

  • Support the preparation of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance documentation, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, budgeting, or accounting, accompanied by a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Industry experience in Publishing, Media, or Digital sectors is highly preferred, with a solid understanding of the unique financial challenges and opportunities within these industries.

  • Advanced Excel proficiency with the ability to perform complex data analysis, including the use of pivot tables, macros, and advanced formulas to streamline reporting processes.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that financial data and reports are accurate and reliable, while maintaining a high degree of precision in all tasks.

  • Commitment to accuracy and accountability, recognizing the critical importance of delivering precise financial statements that support informed decision-making at all levels.

  • Proactive approach to learning by staying up-to-date with industry trends, financial regulations, and best practices.

  • Experience with SAP and OneStream is a significant plus, with a preference for candidates who have demonstrated the ability to work with these systems in a financial reporting or consolidation environment.

Pay-for-performance is a key element in our strategy to attract, engage, and motivate talented people to do their best work. Accordingly, offers extended for this role will include an annual bonus target typically expressed as percentage of salary. Similarly to salary, set annual incentive bonus targets are based on a variety of factors including competitive market practice, experience, tenure, and essential skills.

Base Pay Range: 140,000 - 175,000

For bonus-eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
