Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing leadership of construction managers and/or construction specialists assigned to Solar/BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) projects with a total installed value of $100 Million – $1 Billion. The Manager Construction is accountable to ensure project field success factors are met, including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration. The position serves as the unifying agent providing leadership, management, direction and coordination of construction specialists for Solar/BESS projects in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of Duke Energy.
Responsibilities:
Ensure employees and contingent workers embrace safety, environmental, quality, and support activities within the overall project schedule and budget.
Manage construction oversight personnel, delegate authority, establish expectations, and conduct performance reviews.
Recruit, develop, and provide qualified construction staff in a timely manner to support both construction and commissioning activities for Solar/BESS projects.
Ensure compliance with PMC procedures, standards, and guidelines pertaining to the specific projects.
Interface with Solar/BESS Project Managers/Directors regularly for project updates/status and to ensure any issues or problems are addressed in a timely manner.
Provides leadership oversight to the various internal and external organizations that are providing services to the project construction effort (such as engineering, project controls, estimating, supply chain, legal, EHS, QA/QC, operations, security, transmission, etc.).
Assist as needed with schedule formation and monitoring, cost control measures, start-up and commissioning plans or site readiness, and integration processes. This includes the following project phases: construction, start-up and commissioning or site readiness, turnover for operations, and warranty oversight.
Assist with the update and enforcement of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) for Solar/BESS projects that includes objectives, stakeholders, scope, roles and responsibilities, assumptions and constraints, deliverables, WBS, schedule, contractor and supplier strategy, budget, lessons learned, risk plan, quality plan, safety plan, environmental plan, security plan, integration plan, communications and reporting plan, change management, and project close out.
Manage all project deficiencies that impact cost, schedule, performance, environmental, safety, and quality (potential change orders, change orders, RFI’s, non-conformances, contractual disputes, scope gaps, etc.)
Associates degree
Minimum 13 plus years related work experience
In lieu of Associate's degree and 13 plus years experience, High School/GED and 15 plus years related work experience

Licensed Contractor

Desired Skills: Communication
Contract management, scheduling, cost reporting, safety regulations both companies and OSHA, various codes such as ASME, ACI, NEC, ANSI
Working Conditions
Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
