Required Qualifications:
• Two year of supervisory experience over the billing, collections, admissions or financial counseling activities in a hospital or health care agency
• Knowledge of: the principles and practices involved in billing, admitting and credit and collection activities; laws, rules, regulations and policies affecting patient accounts functions; the principles and techniques of supervision, staff utilization and training
• Ability to: organize, coordinate and supervise the work of direct reports; develop instructional materials; analyze situations and recommend appropriate actions; establish and maintain effective work relationships with other departments of hospital, fiscal intermediary/insurance company representative and vendors, prepare clear and concise written reports
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Computer experience
• Ability to speak, read and write in English
• Strong communication skills: verbal and listening, primarily in telephone conversation, and written
• Ability to interface ethically and professionally with all levels of management
• Demonstrates ability to deliver quality work within tight deadlines
• Independent decision making and discretion
• Knowledge of third party reimbursement methodologies, especially in hospital setting
• Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree
• Five (5) year experience in health care or insurance
• Previous Meditech experience
• Medical Terminology
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Effectively recruit, train, develop, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor direct reports activities
• Organize, coordinate, and direct the activities of the Business Services division of the hospital
• Understand, follow, enforce and inform staff of SJRMC facility, division and departmental policies and procedures
• Manage and control departmental expenditures within budget
• Formulates and revises policies and procedures to insure the most efficient methods of billing fiscal. intermediaries and maximizing collection of delinquent accounts
• Provides technical guidance to staff on most difficult and complex work of unit; coordinates with other hospital departments, County/State/Federal departments and external fiscal intermediaries to ensure accurate flow of information and to solve mutual problem
• Analyzes and prepares a variety of detailed financial and statistical reports.Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:
Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
• Other duties as assigned
