Manager, Non-Trade Accounts Payable

THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Payable Manager to join our team at Circle K. As the Accounts Payable Manager, you will play a pivotal role in oversight of the accounts payable department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role involves managing a team, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and collaborating with other departments to optimize financial operations.

You will collaborate closely with our finance and accounting teams to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payments. Your role will involve active participation in planning and process improvement initiatives. Playing a pivotal role in ICOFR and financial audits, you will ensure the maintenance of comprehensive narratives, robust controls, and effective segregation of duties.  This will require close cooperation with various other finance/accounting teams and operations teams. Additionally, you will support and manage company goals by emphasizing personal accountability, customer service, management, and leadership.

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and manage the Canadian accounts payable team, providing guidance and support.  May include limited collaboration with Accenture (India), our business partner.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports.

  • Develop and implement accounts payable policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and analyze accounts payable data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

  • Prepare and present reports on accounts payable activities to senior management.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We want you to join our team! Here's what we're looking for:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience:

  • 7 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a similar role

  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory position

Knowledge and skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes and best practices.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with PDI and Laserfiche, a plus.

Language skills:

  • Bilingualism required (Advanced French and English) both spoken and written, as this position will be required to work and communicate regularly in English while performing the tasks outlined above. Specifically, the role requires collaboration with global teams.
