Manager, New Verticals - Retail Selection Strategy & Operations

New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Chicago, IL; Tempe, AZ; Washington D. Full Time

About the Team

The New Verticals team is building the future of local commerce through expanding our product offerings on our marketplace platform. We launched in 2020 and have since then built world-class operations to delight our customers with access to Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, and Retail delivery through our marketplace; this team is shaping the future of DoorDash Retail and how we empower local economies across industries like pets, flowers, home improvement and so much more!

About the Role

As a Manager on the Retail Selection Strategy & Operations team, you will bring top nationwide partners and their assortments to DoorDash through direct partnerships, integrations, and scalable tooling. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, product, and merchant experience, owning the end-to-end motion to acquire, launch, and scale Enterprise retailers across priority categories and geographies. You’ll own and evolve the Enterprise Partner Launch Playbook, driving launches with speed, quality, and consistency. From pre-sale through go-live, you’ll partner closely with Business Development, Product, and Operations to ensure seamless execution. You will define where we play (retailer types, geos, categories), stand up 0→1 pilots, and translate early wins into scalable playbooks, tooling requirements, and roadmap priorities.

This is a highly analytical and technical role requiring strong cross functional collaboration and hands-on execution. SQL fluency is required, along with a track record of building and pressure-testing new models to drive outcomes.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Strategize. Define how we win, build data-driven market plans across categories and geographies, set clear targets, and align roadmaps and resourcing to drive measurable selection growth.
  • Build. Incubate and launch 0→1 pilots that unlock new retailer types, integration models, and launch pathways. Turn early concepts into scalable operating models, playbooks, and repeatable systems.
  • Operate. Own the end-to-end Enterprise partner launch lifecycle, from pre-sale through go-live and post-launch stabilization. Establish KPIs, SLAs, and operating cadences to ensure speed, quality, and consistency.
  • Analyze. Use SQL and analytical tools to evaluate performance, quantify opportunity size, and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Experiment. Translate strategy into structured pilots with clear hypotheses, success metrics, and readouts. Pressure-test assortment, integration, pricing, and operational models — then scale what works.
  • Lead, Collaborate & Influence. Partner closely with Business Development, Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations to translate retailer and GTM needs into shippable requirements.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 6-8+ years of experience. You’ve succeeded in similar cultures that are highly analytical and cross-functional (whether in tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience).
  • You're entrepreneurial. You have experience standing up new initiatives, pressure-testing them in the market, and translating early traction into scalable playbooks or systems. You have a bias for action and are able to build things from the ground up.
  • You influence without authority. You’ve partnered cross-functionally, navigating tradeoffs and aligning stakeholders in complex organizations.
  • You’re analytical and technically fluent. You let data win arguments. You’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL, building models, and using data to influence decisions. You understand how systems, integrations, and operational levers drive outcomes.
  • You’re equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team.
  • You have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.
