OVERVIEW:

  • Location: Manila

  • Department: Engineering / Materials Management

  • Entity: AirAsia Philippines

  • Status: Full-time

YOUR ROLE AS A: Materials Manager

As a Materials Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that AirAsia’s engineering operations have the right parts and materials at the right time—efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry and regulatory standards. You will oversee the entire materials and spares cycle, from storage and handling to forecasting and supplier coordination, ensuring that operational safety, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance are always met.

WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems for managing engineering spares and materials.

  • Ensure all materials processes—storage, issuance, transportation, and handling—comply with company procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and CAAP regulations.

  • Prepare short-, medium-, and long-term material and spares forecasts to ensure operational readiness.

  • Ensure contracted service providers maintain proper storage conditions for aviation materials (e.g., aircraft parts, chemicals) in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Supervise the movement of materials across the operating network.

  • Review unserviceable parts and recommend scrapping for Beyond Economical Repair (BER) items.

  • Review and approve purchase orders, invoices, and service charges, resolving discrepancies as needed.

  • Maintain and update the master supplier and subcontractor list.

  • Work with Quality Assurance to evaluate and approve new suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Ensure effective shelf-life monitoring and control for all stored materials.

  • Oversee proper documentation and filing for all received parts and materials.

  • Implement and follow up on corrective actions arising from Engineering Quality Assurance audits.

  • Manage and make decisions involving low-level operational risks related to materials management.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or any relevant four-year course.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in materials management or a related engineering/materials field.

  • Strong skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) or equivalent tools.

  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.

  • Proactive, flexible, able to multitask, and capable of performing well under pressure.

  • At least 2 years of team leadership experience.

WHERE YOU’LL GO:

In this role, you’ll build the foundation for advancement to positions such as Senior Materials Manager, Engineering Supply Chain Manager, or Head of Materials & Logistics — where you’ll lead larger teams, manage broader inventory strategies, and contribute to high-level operational planning across AirAsia’s engineering network.
