Manager, Marketing Demo Program

Boston Dynamics is looking for a highly motivated Demo Program Manager to join our Marketing team and bring our amazing robots to life through real-world demonstrations, brand activations, trade shows, speaking opportunities, and other events. 

Reporting directly to the VP of Marketing & Communications, the ideal candidate will have experience leading a small technical team and demonstrate an eagerness to learn and manage a wide array of robot demonstration projects. They will support multiple marketing initiatives on overlapping timelines and will be responsible for ensuring all project and logistics support, plus financial modeling and tracking of all demo program activities. This team leader will work directly with customers, third party vendors, and Boston Dynamics’ executive leadership and go-to-market teams on high-profile robot appearances. The job will require someone who works extremely well under pressure and is excited about taking on high-profile projects on big stages, under bright lights, and in front of massive audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of marketing project engineers to plan & execute all demo-related marketing activities, including all necessary team resourcing & logistics support.

  • Lead all project scheduling, planning, and budgeting for multiple simultaneous Marketing projects and regularly report status updates to senior leadership.

  • Build a financial modeling system for entertainment & demo projects, working with our business operations and sales teams on pricing structures, quoting process, and payment tracking.

  • Work closely with product management, field application engineering, and other technical teams to incorporate latest technical developments into our demo robots and identify areas to add new features and system improvements. 

  • Interpret and shape creative communications, storyboards, sim-to-real animations, and similar requests from clients and partners.

  • Maintain excellent communication between internal teams and with external clients and partners.

  • Ensure all members of the demo team (including yourself) are trained as excellent robot operators who are comfortable operating in a wide variety of real-world scenarios.
     

You Must Have:

  • BS in an engineering or marketing-related discipline, or equivalent work experience in brand activations or entertainment industry. 

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in fast paced creative environments and/or technology integration roles.

  • Experience with schedule development, dependencies, and contingency planning.

  • Experience using various configuration management systems, ticket systems, and schedule tracking systems (JIRA, Smartsheets, Salesforce, etc.).

  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written form.

  • Ability to adapt to project challenges in a fast paced, quickly changing environment.

  • Willingness to work sometimes strange and inconsistent hours.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Project exposure in the fields of robotic systems, theme parks, stage shows, sim-to-real animations or similar.

  • A strong track record of successful leadership for client-facing projects.

  • Experience with creative concept design, stage productions, or similar entertainment industry work.

  • Familiarity with basic IP networking concepts.

  • Experience with event planning or show directing, reviewing stage drawings, or creating technical riders for events (stage plots, channel settings, equipment lists, etc.) 

  • Comfort with processes and goals that are not always formalized in writing.

  • Experience navigating projects involving celebrities, business executives, politicians, or similar high-profile audiences.

Travel Requirements:

  • Boston Dynamics HQ based (Waltham, MA), willing to travel significantly up to 50% of the time

The base pay range for this position is between $116,000.00 to $160,000.00 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  This range represents a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
