Purpose of Job
The Key Private Account Manager (KAM) will be responsible for gaining and develop optimal market access for the company’s product portfolio within major private health insurance providers. The role focuses on the management and commercial development of strategic payer accounts, particularly large national and regional health insurance companies. The KAM will proactively lead relationships with key decision-makers within health insurance organizations, ensuring value-based partnerships, favorable access conditions, and sustainable growth throughout the product lifecycle. In close collaboration with the Price, Reimbursement & Access (PRA), Sales, and Medical teams, the KAM will identify access challenges, co-create solutions, and align commercial strategies with payer needs.
Key Deliverables
Portfolio Access – Health Insurance Market
Responsible for gaining and maintaining access for products within prioritized private health insurance accounts, including:
- - Develop strong expertise in the Spanish health insurance environment and payer account management.
- - Establish comprehensive Account Plans (including SWOT analysis and opportunity mapping) for each prioritized insurer.
- - Define and implement access and contracting strategies aligned with affiliate priorities and payer dynamics.
- - Build and maintain high-level relationships with key stakeholders (medical, economic, purchasing, and management) within insurance organizations.
- - Identify customer needs, decision-making processes, and reimbursement pathways within health insurance systems.
- - Implement and communicate compelling payer value propositions focused on health outcomes, efficiency, and sustainability.
Commercial Focus on Key Accounts
- - Drive commercial negotiations with large health insurance accounts, within approved contracting frameworks.
- - Identify growth opportunities through preferred agreements, innovative contracting models, and strategic partnerships.
- - Monitor and optimize account performance, access conditions, and portfolio positioning.
Cross-functional Integration
- - Act as the internal expert on private health insurance systems and market evolution.
- - Communicate payer insights and needs to Payer Marketing, Sales, Medical, and PRA teams.
- - Contribute actively to the development of payer value propositions, tools, and materials.
- - Support sales teams in addressing access-related challenges impacting product utilization.
Basic Requirements
- - University degree; postgraduate studies are highly valued (MBA preferred).
- - Excellent command of English (Advanced, C1 or equivalent).
- - Native or bilingual Spanish.
- - Minimum 3+ years of experience in managing health insurance providers and/or payer accounts.
- - Strong negotiation and decision-making skills within established contracting frameworks.
- - High availability to travel (>50%).
- - Location: Madrid.
