The UHealth-University of Miami Health System IT Department has an opportunity for a full-time Manager, IT Security.

The Manager, IT Security protects the University’s computers, networks, and data against threats, such as security breaches, computer viruses or attacks from cyber-criminals, by assessing the security measures to identify any weak points. The Manager, IT Security facilitates the attainment of higher levels of customer service by directing internal teams in the execution of IT initiatives.

  • Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures, employee work method and utilization, and staffing levels.

  • Plays an integral role in hiring, training, counseling, and developing staff.

  • Makes recommendations to IT leadership, peers, and subordinates to improve the working environment.

  • Participates in University operations and projects related to the security and privacy of IT systems.

  • Develops and maintains security and privacy policies for the University of Miami Health System.

  • Manages the user provisioning and maintenance processes for EHRs and related IT systems.

  • Manages the creation and maintenance of user profiles to control access and actions of users.

  • Manages security and privacy monitoring processes in compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Keeps track of evolving industry standards and regulations related to EHR security and privacy practices.

  • Implements and supports those standards and practices that apply or would benefit the University.

  • Implements standard practices that will improve operational security and privacy.

  • Watches for organizational or operational changes that might negatively impact the privacy and security of patient data and takes corrective action.

  • Monitors internal controls to ensure that appropriate access levels are maintained.

  • Audits the systems and information management processes to identify any breaches.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                        

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Operational Management: Optimizes day-to-day operations and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Organizational Development: Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness, engagement, and manage change.

  • Financial Oversight: Knowledge of financial operations and management.

  • Team Leadership: Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment, build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
