Qualifications

Education & Experience

- University degree or college diploma in finance or related field.

- 7–10+ years of experience in asset management or custody operations.

- Experience within Client Operations, Investment Operations, Middle Office, or Institutional Operations.

- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) considered an asset.

Technical & Functional Skills

- Strong knowledge of Charles River (CRIMS) or other OMS platforms.

- Understanding of State Street systems, settlement processes, and corporate actions.

- Familiarity with reconciliation, cash management, derivatives, collateral workflows, and security master data.

- Strong grounding in operational controls and SLA‑based oversight.

Leadership & Behavioural Competencies

- Proven leadership in fast‑paced operational environments.

- Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills.

- Demonstrated issue resolution and process redesign capability.

- Strong organizational discipline with a focus on accuracy and execution.

Mandate

The Manager, Client & Investment Operations provides leadership and oversight across client operations, trade and transaction management, onboarding, invoicing, reporting, and investment support functions. The role ensures timely, accurate, and risk‑controlled delivery of operational services across institutional, retail, ETF, and specialty mandates while acting as an escalation point and partner to the Investment, Compliance, Trading, and State Street teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Oversight

- Oversee daily operational processes across Client Operations, Trade & Transaction Management, and Investment Support teams.

- Ensure accuracy and completeness of investment data, settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions, cash management, and reporting.

- Oversee outsourced service providers (primarily State Street) ensuring SLA compliance and timely escalation.

- Monitor State Street processes including trade settlements, corporate actions, MYSS reporting, derivatives, collateral, and reconciliation workflows.

Client Operations & Relationship Management

- Oversee client trade processing, invoicing, onboarding, and transitions.

- Act as operational contact for internal and external stakeholders ensuring timely issue resolution.

- Coordinate with ISS team for reporting and client‑driven requirements.

Trade & Transaction Management

- Manage workflows supporting Trading and Dealing teams including trade capture, security setup, and trade lifecycle oversight.

- Monitor trade activity and settlement events with State Street and brokers.

- Support rebalancing events, corporate actions, and specialty mandate workflows.

- Ensure accuracy and control alignment within Charles River (CRIMS).

Risk Management & Controls

- Identify operational risks and inefficiencies; implement control and automation enhancements.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and audit expectations.

- Maintain process documentation and support control testing.

Strategic Initiatives & Transformation

- Lead operational initiatives, process enhancements, system changes, and new product launches.

- Partner with Technology and State Street to improve straight‑through‑processing.

- Assess feasibility of operational changes prior to formal Change Requests (CRs).

Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
