Job Summary

The Manager Internal Product Development for Workers’ Compensation (USABLE MCO) is responsible for research, development, management and the operation of current and future Workers’ Compensation products including product development, analysis, implementation of market strategies, reporting procedures and services. The incumbent answers to the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission (AWCC) for the USABLE MCO partners and their employees. This position ensures coordination and quality provision of medical and customer service support to vendors, network providers, customers and the AWCC, in addition to compliance with AWCC policies, regulations and reporting requirements.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field. In lieu of degree, five (5) years' experience with workers' compensation product management, case management, or related positions will be considered.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Minimum seven (7) years' experience with workers' compensation product management, case management, or related positions OR applicable Masters in related field with minimum five (5) years' experience.

Minimum two (2) years' leadership experience (role, team and/or project management).

Knowledge of Workers' Compensation state laws, operational regulations and guidelines.

Knowledge in constructing and negotiating contracts with vendors and customers.

Knowledge of the procedures required to process benefits for workers’ compensation claims, social security disability claims or other similar benefit programs regulated by state of federal governments.

Knowledge of workers’ compensation trends both statewide and nationally.

Knowledge in design and development of marketing and product service strategies.

Basic knowledge of the operations and state requirements of a Managed Care Organization (MCO).

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements marketing products and strategies, and establishes operational procedures and guidelines. • Functions as a liaison and resource between partners, network providers, and customers.  • Informs leadership of ongoing processes, project statuses and operational activities.  • Initiates effective program development, coordination, and internal and external communication.  • Manages the hiring, coaching/training, employee development and performance management of assigned team.  • Negotiates provider network inclusion contracts, employer contracts, and interacts with statewide business management staff, AWCC members, MCO partners, physicians and other medical professionals.  • Performs sales presentations, constructs and negotiates MCO contracts, and coordinates network inclusion processes. • Secures employer workers’ compensation contracts, network providers and provides products that are consistently delivered and responsive to the needs of Arkansas employers, employees, physicians and the AWCC. • Seeks guidance and developmental assistance as needed from internal marketing staff, AWCC, cost containment vendors, physicians and product partners. • Works with marketing representatives to develop and maintain marketing literature and strategies.
