Summary:

Manages and leads all hospital activities related to the Infection Prevention and Control Program. Creates policies and procedures and educational program development based on evidence-based literature, standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Provides expert-level consultation to departments on matters of infection prevention and control. Provides hospital-level oversight and ensures ongoing organizational compliance with regulatory protocols and ensures alignment with mission, values, and objectives of department and organization.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for oversight of departmental operations, resource allocation, and financial planning to ensure cost-effective, high-impact outcomes.Creates and provides reports and presentations, training, and education related to infection prevention and control topics that are appropriately tailored to audience.Provides oversight and monitors departmental metrics, strategic performance improvement goals, implementation of hospital and system-level Infection Prevention Plan, as well as conducts risk assessments annually and as needed.Collaborates with executive leadership to align data-driven insights with system priorities, performance goals, and regulatory reporting requirements.Assists with preparation for all regulatory inspections, surveys, and drills by facilitating compliance with applicable standards and laws.Develops and enforces hospital and system-level policies, procedures and objectives that align infection prevention best practices, evidence-based guidelines, reporting, and decision-making aimed at protecting patients, healthcare personnel, and visitors from contracting and/or transmitting infections and diseases.Provides overall department direction, responsibility and validation for hospital-wide infection prevention program including surveillance, investigation, timely reporting, and all other infection prevention activities to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and as outlined by regulatory agencies, local and federal requirements and national evidence-based guidelines.Maintains databases and records while tracking and trending data related to infection prevention and control. Maintains and improves proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: The Manager should possess ability to build and foster positive relationships, lead others, and create compliance when implementing infection prevention and control programs. Highly energetic, displays creativity, and has extensive presentation experience.Critical thinking skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and decisive judgment. Must possess time management skills including the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Requires mastery of standardized definitions for healthcare associated infections, and the ability to utilize evidence-based guidelines and in the absence of any such guidelines, expert opinion under the supervision of the Medical Director and administration. Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary roles across the healthcare system. Required Work Experience: Greater than three (3) years of experience in infection prevention and control required. Other Information: Additional Education Info: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Registered/Professional Nursing or Epidemiology or Microbiology program or a Master's degree in Public Health (MPH). Additional Cert/License Info: Florida State licensure required for Registered Nurse (RN) or Clinical Lab Technologist (TN). Licensure not required for Master of Public Health.Board certification in infection control (CIC) preferred.
