Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $105,000.00 - $123,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)About This Job
The main purpose of this job is to manage income tax compliance, tax provision reporting under ASC 740, and tax risk management while serving as a technical tax resource for supported business lines and ensuring compliance with applicable tax and regulatory requirements
Essential Functions
Manage and review federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, and annual extension filings
Oversee state apportionment, nexus, and filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions
Support the ASC 740 provision process (current/deferred, disclosures) and related audit/regulatory inquiries, including analysis of tax impacts from accounting standard changes
Oversee payroll tax compliance (filings, deposits, W-2 review) and monitor regulatory changes to implement required updates
Support information reporting compliance and manage non-wage withholding compliance (eg, 1099/1098, 1042/1042-S, deposits/reconciliations, B-Notice) and serve as a resource to business lines on related requirements
Research technical federal and state tax issues and prepare written memoranda to advise business lines on tax implications of new products or transactions
Coordinate preparation and review of tax return workpapers and monitor tax law changes affecting compliance requirements
Assist with responses to IRS and state tax authority inquiries and examinations
Support sales/use tax processes, SOX compliance for income tax and payroll, benefit plan audits, and Form 5500 filings
Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects/issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs
Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required
Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively
Support budget management, planning and expenditure Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced knowledge of US federal corporate income tax required
Advanced knowledge of ASC 740 income tax accounting required
Intermediate knowledge of US state and local tax, payroll tax, information reporting, and sales/use tax compliance
Intermediate knowledge of tax preparation software such as ProSystem fx or GoSystem Tax preferred or ability to learn
Ability to apply technical tax judgment in a regulated environment required
Ability to manage and review external service providers preferred
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgement to efficiently and effectively solve problems
Ability to drive results and balance management of organizational risk and meeting goals of the business
Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the company, clearly expressing ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing
Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
6+ years of tax experience including review responsibilities required
Prior public accounting experience preferred
Financial institution tax experience preferred
Experience with multi-state income tax compliance preferred
CPA license preferred

This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
