Safety is our top priority, we believe nothing is more important than ensuring everyone returns home safely. While we have group standards, Davidstow has unique operational challenges, including large-scale cheese production and environmental compliance requirements. This role will have the autonomy to tailor HSE initiatives to site-specific needs, driving workforce engagement and continuous improvement.

Davidstow is a complex, high-volume site with approximately 180 employees and up to 300 contractors during shutdowns. The HSE Manager will need strong interpersonal and project management skills to manage these periods effectively. • Developing HSE competence at all levels and departments.
  • Co-ordinating investigations of accidents or incidents affecting people, environment, property, or process, liaising with enforcement authorities.
  • Driving delivery of company HSE strategy at site level.
  • Identifying and mitigating site-specific risks, including ammonia systems, chemical handling (high-strength caustics and acids), and traffic movement.
  • Acting as the face of the business with regulatory bodies (EA, HSE), contractors, and local communities, including managing feedback on noise and odour.
  • Supporting and influencing the PLT to deliver a consistent, continuously improving HSE programme.
  • Working closely with group teams to implement effective management systems for occupational HSE and associated risks.
  • Auditing compliance with SDUK and global standards and implementing corrective actions.

YOU’RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE…

  • A NEBOSH Diploma holder (or equivalent) with experience in manufacturing at a comparable scale.

  • Skilled in driving cultural change programmes and managing people.
  • Knowledgeable in ammonia refrigeration safety, listeria control, and environmental permitting.
  • Experienced with IPC/EP permitting, UK environmental legislation, and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
  • Comfortable engaging with regulatory bodies, contractors, and local communities.
  • Strong communicator, able to influence and coach at all levels.
  • Experienced in budget planning and control.
  • Able to manage complex projects and prioritise effectively during shutdowns.
