Manager, Global Payroll

SUMMARY

The Manager, Global Payroll will oversee Avetta’s worldwide payroll cycle end to end including processing payroll and recording all expenses and accruals. This a key opportunity for a manager to scale with a growing employee basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with global payroll, deep understanding of payroll accounting, experience scaling payroll processes and building efficient processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the worldwide payroll cycle – collect and validate supporting documentation, process and remit payroll and associated withholdings, prepare payroll journal entries in multiple currencies, including accruals for month-end, perform reconciliations for payroll G/L accounts for the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, and UK; record bank impact for all payroll accounts
  • Manage global payroll vendors, in-country providers, and third-party providers including issue resolution and vendor performance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international payroll laws through partnership with Tax and Legal; ensure accurate withholding and reporting of non-cash compensation and payroll taxation of equity awards
  • Lead, coach, and develop payroll team members
  • Establish documentation of payroll processes and cross-training of team members
  • Collaborate with the HR, FP&A, and other departments to simplify employee pay-related reporting and the pay modification process
  • Partner with HR and Sales Ops to administer and calculate bonus and commission plans ensuring accurate and timely payment and recording capitalization as appropriate in the GL
  • Own and review all payroll G/L accounts, assess variances, and report actual performance against budget and forecast
  • Fund and manage 401(k) enrollments and contributions; support annual Form 5500 filings and 401(k) audit processes
  • Ensure benefit bills have been reconciled and processed for payment through the AP department
  • Lead payroll automation and process improvement initiatives including partnering the HR and IT for any HRIS or payroll system changes or integrations for best in class process and deliverables.
  • Continuous assessment of payroll team work structure with roles, ownership, and deliverables and execute adjustments as needed.
  • Design and operate internal controls, documentation, and preparation of payroll support for the consolidated financial statement audit under US GAAP
  • Take on special projects as deemed necessary by the executive team

IDEAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • ADP Workforce Now experience required
  • NetSuite and Rippling experience, preferred
  • CPP or equivalent payroll certification, preferred
  • 7+ years of payroll experience including multi-state US payroll and international payroll experience
  • 5+ years accounting experience required
  • 3+ years management experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent field required
  • Advanced Excel skills (advanced filtering, xlookup, pivot tables)
  • Proven experience working in a team under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Trustworthiness and high level of confidentiality
