In this role, you will initially focus on enhancing and optimizing IFCO’s global Pool Accounting processes through advanced data analytics. Over time, your responsibilities will expand to broader global accounting initiatives, including policy development, harmonization, and compliance enforcement across all regions. You will work closely with the Director of General Ledger Accounting Europe and under the sponsorship of the VP Accounting Global. This progression offers a dynamic opportunity to deepen your expertise while contributing to the strategic development of IFCO’s global accounting framework.

This role offers a unique opportunity to start by leading transformative Pool Accounting projects through data-driven insights and later broaden your impact by shaping and enforcing global accounting policies across IFCO’s worldwide operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Pool Accounting Development – Lead the creation and implementation of IFCO’s global RPC pool accounting methodology using advanced track-and-trace and data analytics.
  • Data Analysis & Insights – Analyze pool behavior (e.g., lifecycle, loss rates, regional differences) using statistical models and Big Data to derive reliable accounting assumptions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Track & Trace, BI teams, external experts, and the Director GL Accounting Europe to ensure aligned methodologies and insights.
  • Technical Documentation – Document accounting assumptions and methodological findings in full compliance with IFRS and HGB.
  • Global Accounting Policies – Develop, update, and maintain global accounting policies and ensure consistent application across regions.
  • Process Harmonization & Automation – Drive global standardization and automation of accounting processes, ensuring adherence to corporate guidelines.
  • Technical Concept Design – Create accounting-related technical concepts for new business transactions and regulatory changes (e.g., IAS 16, IAS 36, IFRS).
  • Training & Stakeholder Alignment – Support local accounting teams in adopting new policies and act as an interface to global stakeholders, ensuring end-to-end alignment.

We expect:

  • Educational Background – Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or an equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Professional Experience – Several years of experience in international consulting, auditing, or a comparable in-house role within an industrial company.
  • Accounting & Standards Expertise – Strong knowledge of general ledger and fixed asset accounting, including solid understanding of HGB and IFRS.
  • Analytical & Data Skills – Excellent analytical capabilities; experience with Big Data or statistical modeling is a strong advantage.
  • System & Tool Proficiency – Proficient in SAP FI and advanced MS Office tools (especially Excel and Outlook); experience in finance-related IT projects is beneficial.
  • Work Style – Independent, structured, detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and quick comprehension.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management – Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Language & Mobility – Fluent in English; German is a plus. Willingness to travel and work in an international environment.
