What is the opportunity?

RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC GAM is a provider of global investment management services and solutions to individual, high-net-worth, and institutional investors through mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, pooled funds, separate accounts, and specialty investment strategies.

As a Manager, GAM Finance, you will assist in businesses unit planning, forecasting, analysis, reporting and support RBC GAM Inc. legal and regulatory requirements. Your primary function of the role will be to ensure that the business unit financial results and forecast/plan are accurately reflected in the financial systems.

What you will do?

  • Contribute to the monitoring, analysis and reporting of seed capital financial results, including ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the results in within RBC systems.
  • Monitor and respond to seed capital requests including initiating and monitoring of seed capital investment and divestment instructions initiated by business.
  • Complete reporting requirements to drive value added insights and businesses drivers/metrics indicators including GAM AUM consolidation and reporting.
  • Work closely with Financial Controls team to support Head Office reporting requirements; enhance financial control process by proactive communications to ensure appropriate levels of controls are in place.
  • Be a key contact and partner for the businesses supported, other finance teams, internal and external auditors.
  • Responsible for providing business partners with supplementary financial information and responding to ad-hoc requests on a timely basis. 
  • Support update and production of the annual plan and 5 year outlook documents that are shared with GAM management.
  • Ensure that RBC GAM results are accurately reflected in the financial systems on a timely basis,
  • Participate in the GAM monthly estimate, QBR, annual plan and 5-year outlook including being responsible for uploading information and forecasting of balance sheet, P&L, AUM, Net sales etc.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase efficiency and automation. Ensure policies and procedures support an appropriate internal control environment.
  • Other projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Working toward CPA or CFA designation or Data Science accreditation
  • 2+ years of related corporate finance or accounting experience within a financial institution would be a benefit.
  • Proven ability to identify efficiency improvements and manage process changes.
  • Strong financial accounting and reporting skills.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, with an emphasis on Excel, including the use of v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills including adopting AI tools with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client service orientation - willingness to take all issues through to a successful resolution.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and able to meet deadlines.

Nice-to-have    

  • Knowledge or experience of Asset Management industry a plus
  • Experience with EPM, Cognos and PeopleSoft accounting/reporting systems.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau to support reporting.
  • Knowledge of RBC legal entity/management structure an asset
  • Strong financial and management reporting skills
