Job Summary
Responsible for providing financial services to client portfolio that includes development and monitoring of all financial forecasts and budgets. Develops and prepares quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets; monitors and tracks monthly actuals against these budgets / forecasts. Provides customized reporting to support the client VP’s financial requirements. Identifies trouble spots and follows up on trends or issues that will be of concern to senior management. The role also determines which indicators require attention and explanation in reports. Provides financial expertise to both management and senior management respecting group business decision-making and thereby contributing to the financial results of the company.

In this role you will:
- Work directly with the client area Senior Management to obtain the information necessary to establish the annual budgets (Revenue, Opex & Capital).
- Manage a team of financial analysts and oversee monthly monitoring and reporting. Based on knowledge of the business and input from the client area, analyze variances and identify budgetary impacts.
- Be accountable for the preparation and providing financial analysis and reports, including preparation of annual budget, forecast instructions and quarterly forecasts.
- Support the group with respect to the financial aspects of business / project decision making and designs policies or programs to support the group.
- Work with the client area to identify changes in financial reporting structure (e.g., cost centres) and lead the design of policies and realignment of budgets as may be necessary.
- Identify the need for revisions to system interfaces. Represent client area in working with other Finance Group Managers and/or Technology in executing the system enhancements.
- Fully accountable for a direct reporting staff, including the responsibility to hire, allocate priorities, assess performance, authorize leave, provide guidance and coaching and take disciplinary action as required.
- Identify, research, and provide recommendations for accounting treatments for transactions that ensure adherence to IFRS and NAV CANADA policies.
- Assist in the development and provides analysis of the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting exercises for the Company.
- Monitor the groups’ financial reports to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and the Company’s financial policies (IFRS, internal controls).
- Monitor the group’s overall performance based on relevant indicators, flags anomalies and tracks source of problem prior to reporting.
- Determine methods of analyzing information, the systems required to support such analysis and the reporting methods that will be used when advising senior management.
- Decide which indicators will be tracked at the client business level and decide when to follow up with the client line managers to obtain operational explanations of financial trends. Recommend actions to address issues or improve information accuracy.
- Participate in service contract negotiations by providing financial analysis and business decision support.
- Accountable for financial administration of multi-million-dollar contracts which require contract interpretation and financial validation of new and ongoing services.
- Participate in establishing long-term strategic business plans for commercial business segments.
- Accountable for developing accounting policies and guidelines as required for areas specific to the functional areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for preparing and reviewing business cases when required.
- Provide financial analysis for collective bargaining, as required.
What you bring:
- CPA Accounting designation
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Strong knowledge of computer-based accounting and office management systems and applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Power BI)
- Experience in financial analysis, external financial reporting and NAV CANADA internal budgeting and forecasting would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of NAV CANADA’s operations and activities and how to apply finance.
- Strong understanding of how to implement business process improvement/reengineering.
- Strong work ethic - sense of urgency & ability to prioritize requests; ability to multi-task & to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines while producing timely & accurate deliverables.

Working Conditions:
- This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 days per week on site.
- Occasional travel required
