Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

What you will do:

Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis acts as the strategic lead for Cineplex’s annual budget and five-year planning cycle. This role owns the Cineplex financial model, producing the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement, and plays a key role in delivering monthly forecasts, internal management reports, and executive presentations. As a trusted business partner across all business units and functional areas, the Manager provides insightful variance analysis and forward-looking recommendations that enhance financial reporting and support informed decision-making. The role also includes supporting ad-hoc Investor Relations activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance current internal and external financial models (including balance sheet, cash flow statement and divisional P&Ls) that are dynamic, automated and deliver in a fast-paced environment.

  • Build and maintain dynamic Excel-based financial models encompassing full financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), including individual location-level P&L analysis to support strategic planning, performance tracking, and decision-making.

  • Project manager for the monthly forecasting process and annual budget cycle.

  • Manage monthly executive reporting, including detailed variance analysis, and engage with key stakeholders to monitor performance against budget and forecast.

  • Ad-hoc business unit support (modeling, reporting, analysis), providing knowledge, guidance and support in creating business models and/or reports, as well as providing context for analysis of results.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy and timeliness using automation.

  • Lead cost management processes for cost centres (G&A) by partnering with key stakeholders to enhance accountability, improve cost visibility, and drive operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • Professional designation(s) such as CPA and/or CFA, complemented by an MBA, demonstrating advanced expertise in financial management, analysis, and strategic decision-making.

  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting or FP&A roles, with broad exposure to general accounting, auditing, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy, alignment, and consistency across financial data—maintaining one version of the truth and ensuring the narrative supports the numbers.

  • Strong business curiosity and a client-service mindset, consistently seeking to understand the broader context, ask meaningful questions, and uncover the “why” behind business activities before executing tasks.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (including VBA and Macros) and PowerPoint (including deck automation).

  • High level proficiency with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power BI, with the ability to build automations and develop insightful dashboards.

  • Strong analytical capability in interpreting financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow) and quickly pinpointing trends, risks, and anomalies.
