JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

Enterprise Storage Manager provides both strategic and tactical support for the production enterprise storage and backup environments, as well as related disaster recovery sites. Provide management and leadership for the storage management technical support staff.  Develop necessary metrics and management practices to provide a “best-in-class” storage management environment. Provide leadership and strategic direction and planning for the organizations storage environment, continuously seeking opportunities to improve service, improve business unit productivity, and insure business alignment with strategic goals.  Work closely with peer teams in Technology aligning department services, and providing end-to-end solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software, and technical services to assure adherence to technical specifications.
  • Teams with database, server, and mainframe engineering teams to maintain documented configuration standards.
  • Builds and maintains enterprise storage road-maps.
  • Responsible for day-to-day support of the storage and backups environments.
  • Represents Technology as the subject matter expert on all projects.
  • Provides management and leadership to storage team.
  • Develops metrics and management practices to track storage performance and provide timely reporting.
  • Provides strategic direction for the enterprise storage environment to include (but not limited to): Continued development and implementation of a charge back model and reporting on storage utilization and capacity; Complete implementation of strategic direction to reduce and eliminate need for magnetic tapes;
  • Develops and implements a continuous improvement program based on metrics and positive trending (i.e. improved systems availability, decreased incident time to resolution, etc.).
  • Develops department goals and manages results.
  • Works closely with peer group to identify service improvement opportunities and provides seamless end-to-end support.
  • Provides support for business aligned solutions focused on storage technologies.
  • Provides necessary consultative services to Customers (PM’s, BSM’s, etc.), identifying opportunities aligned with overall business and technology goals related to projects.
  • Stays current on technology and industry trends pertaining to department needs.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with all business partners and customers.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Incumbent is required to comply will all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the bank Secrecy Act.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises and coaches several employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include adequately staffing; training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; Ensures that priorities and standards are being met; Executes a performance management plan which includes setting goals and measuring performance against these goals.  Plans, schedules, assigns, monitors and directs activities of team members on technical and operations projects and during regular departmental activities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a management position or a similar technical lead role
  • EMC Certified RecoverPoint Data Replication and Recovery, Data Domain, VNX, Avamar Backup and Recovery, and Storage Area Network
  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field is strongly preferred
  • 8 years of relevant professional work experience, with direct experience of managing 7x24 operations for mission-critical services for sizable organizations.
  • Capacity Management - Monitor and report on storage usage, trends and capacity plan accordingly.
  • Very Strong (Expert) Experience working with EMC and IBM storage, to configure and optimize storage hardware.
  • Experience working closely with outside managed service provider to ensure they are meeting SLA's and high level of operations.
  • Experience monitoring and tuning storage infrastructure
  • Excellent management skills for growing team, cultivating talents, and driving team performance.
  • Track record of delivering SLA and uptime over extended period of time, with continuous improvements through process, people, or technology cycles.
  • Strong customer service and conflict management skills in providing support and direction to team members, other IT staffs, and business stakeholders for problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to work well across large global functional teams to translate business requirements into technology requirements
  • Deep knowledge of technology domains in multiple disciplines, including converged network, data center, virtualization, cloud, telecom, backup recovery, storage replication for disaster recovery and, storage respectively.
  • Well versed in change management, incident resolution, and problem management best practices.
  • Ability to lead during intense situations and adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to communicate well in varying situations based on audience.
  • Experience with ITIL enterprise system/service management frameworks, process engineering, and Service Level Management tools implementation
  • Strong knowledge and experience of data center computing are mandatory.
  • Expert experience with EMC primary storage, storage management, and EMC BURA Networker/Avamar/Data Domain backup recovery platforms.
  • Expert experience with administering Brocade and CISCO SAN switches technology
