Organizational Overview:

Synchrony's Risk Team provides independent oversight of Synchrony’s risk-taking activities to ensure safety and soundness, meet regulatory and legal requirements, and manage risks to the risk-appetite of the Board. Risk is responsible for independently assessing, quantifying, and overseeing risks & providing effective challenge. Risk serves as Synchrony’s Second Line of Defense.   

Overall, Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related overall risk, risk testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars: Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars play a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenges.
 

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Manager (L9), Enterprise Risk Analytics is an individual contributor role and will be responsible for providing reporting and visual analytics solutions based off the company’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) system. This role is a key driver in transforming raw risk data into clear, actionable, and visually compelling reports and dashboards primarily using Tableau. The role will have a dotted line of reporting to the AVP – Enterprise Risk Analytics (US) while directly reporting into the Enterprise Risk Analytics Team in India, which rolls up into Synchrony Financial India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced risk reports, dashboards, and visualizations primarily utilizing Tableau based on data extracted from the GRC system and related data sources

  • Partner with the eGRC FA and DM teams to understand continuous upgrades and changes to the system and data that can affect downstream reporting

  • Collaborate with senior leaders, risk managers, and governance functions to gather, understand, and translate complex business requirements into technical reporting specifications

  • Present analytics findings and visualizations to stakeholders, clearly articulating the story behind the data to drive risk-informed decision-making

  • Design and build data extracts and queries from the eGRC Data Mart to efficiently support complex risk analytics and reporting requirements

  • Perform in-depth analysis of risk data to identify emerging trends, concentrations, and key risk indicators (KRIs) across the enterprise

  • Perform other special tasks as needed

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 2-4 years of relevant experience in coding, reporting, or analytics. Or in lieu of a degree 4-6 years of coding, reporting or analytics experience.

  • 2+ years’ hands-on experience with Tableau (or similar major BI tool such as Power BI)

  • 2+ years’ hands-on experience with one or more data analytics tools like SAS/SQL, Python, Hadoop, etc.

  • Strong written/oral communication skills.

  • Proven ability to deliver Analytical solutions for Business problems.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related or Business field.

  • Experience in consumer credit/risk analytics role

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, organize workflow, and prioritize work assignments

  • Working knowledge and experience with GenAI in workspace

  • Commercially effective and collaborative across teams and functions

  • Intermediate EXCEL skill-set

Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 2-4 years of relevant experience in coding, reporting, or analytics. Or in lieu of a degree 4-6 years of coding, reporting or analytics experience.

Work Timings:

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
