At athenahealth, the Internal Developer Platform team is dedicated to revolutionizing the developer experience by modernizing our technology stack, enhancing our internal developer platform developer experience and productivity, and building cutting-edge capabilities to accelerate software delivery. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one of our Tech strategy enablement teams.
Job Responsibilities:
· Lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
· Oversee the development and automation of applications to match the tech strategy defined.
· Work with product managers, stakeholders, and other teams to align on project goals and deliverables. Ensure effective communication and manage stakeholder expectations.
· Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation to ensure successful project execution.
· Facilitate technical design discussions and ensure the production of accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications.
· Ensure high-quality software delivery by adhering to athena's policies, latest and emerging trends and technologies.
· Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
· Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Champion a culture of quality, innovation and continuous improvement
Typical Qualifications:
· 10+ years of commercial software development experience, with a strong background in leading engineering teams.
· Experience in AWS, Kubernetes, Java/Python
· Prior experience working on Tech modernizations & migration, stakeholder management and cross functional team collaboration .
· Knowledge of distributed systems and micro services architecture.
· Full-stack development experience is a plus.
· Strong understanding of Agile SDLC practices, including unit and integration testing, design and code reviews, and documentation.
· Experience with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket.
· Strong communication skills to work across geographies, with a record of engineering achievement, code ownership, and customer orientation.
· Proven mentoring and coaching skills that encourage growth for junior team members.
· Track record of designing and delivering cloud-based products, modules, and services.
· Proven ability to implement and adopt new technologies and methodologies.
