Job Overview

This position, in collaboration with the Operations Manager, oversees the daily clinical and administrative operations of designated unit(s).  This position allocates resources and ensures that patient care is aligned with the goals, mission, and vision of Tufts Medicine. 

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Massachusetts EMT-P license.

2. National Registered Paramedic.

3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

5. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

6. Unencumbered state issued driver’s license.

7. HAZMAT Certificate.

8. NIMS ICS 300 Course Completion.

9. Associate's degree.

10. Five (5) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s or Master of Science.

2. NIMS ICS 400 Course Completion.

3. Tactical Emergency Care (TECC) course completion.

4. Five (5) years of related experience with at least three (3) years supervising employees.


Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. In collaboration with the Operations Manager, oversees staffing and scheduling of assigned teams.

2. In collaboration with the Director, ensures all staff maintains competency-based practice based upon patient population.

3. Plans, organizes and directs, in partnership with other department leaders, all activities of the Paramedic and EMS services. This includes paramedicine services for 911 calls, Mobile Integrated Health, and EMS services for interfacility and interfacility ambulance transport by the medical center’s team.

4. Works collaboratively with the ALS Medical Director and Operations Manager for quality improvement and programmatic policies.

5. Facilitates ALS education and development programs for the department, fire departments and local ambulance services.

6. Collaborates with the EMS and Emergency Services leadership team to represent the organization and various boards, committees, and community events.

 Identifies avenues to pursue own professional growth.

7. Keeps current on regulatory issues and trends and employs strategies to meet standards in a proactive manner.

8. Supervises staff by ensuring supportive and effective orientation, evaluating work performance, providing guidance, and timely feedback based on outcome measures.

9. Recognizes, responds, and provides follow-up on issues, concerns, and suggestions on behalf of the patient population and staff.

10. Allocates resources and coordinates services to optimize patient care and services.

11. Develops and monitors operating and capital budget; implements strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

12. Performs performance reviews with staff.

13. Participates in staff interview process, provides direction and discipline to staff as appropriate, and orients new staff to facility.

14. Creates and fosters a learning environment that facilities the professional growth and development of staff.

15. Develops and implements processes to enhance operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.

16. Develops, implements, and monitors written policies and procedures.

17. Leads and/or participates in hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary teams, committees, councils and special projects.

Pay Range:

 

$91,879.42 - $117,150.49
