Job Description

The Manager, Distribution Strategies - Buick/GMC serves as a distribution liaison to the field and a problem solver by working to successfully eliminate roadblocks and create efficiencies that serve our customers and our salesforce.  This person will also serve within a Distribution Strategy Center of Excellence where they will play an instrumental role in refining current processes, identifying efficiency opportunities and developing proactive communication and resolution measures to the field.

Role:

  • Manage all distribution processes and issues, including consensus, port consensus, Dealer Ordering Submission Process (DOSP), inventory balancing, constraint management / order placement, Strategic Target Market Initiative (STMI), Transactional Integrity, etc.

  • Lead consistent communications and provide support to the field team in the distribution and order-to-delivery space.

  • Act as a liaison with Order Fulfillment, Logistics, Finance, invoicing and systems teams, etc. to manage processes in support of the Zone teams.

  • Support all new vehicles to achieve successful launches

  • Conduct / develop training in inventory management, logistics and order management for wholesale and dealership teams

  • Support dealership buy-sell, termination and add-point activities including management of regional vehicle warehouse accounts

  • Serve as an essential member of a Distribution Center of Excellence team that will focus on refining current processes, identifying efficiency opportunities and developing proactive communication and resolution measures to the field

  • Identify and support special projects as required

  • Establish / develop functional relationships with key contacts

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced role on complex issues

  • Strong understanding of dealership operating processes and practices with specific knowledge of order management and allocation

  • In depth understanding of GM’s sales and marketing processes and the roles and responsibilities of the Zone teams

  • Familiarity with General Motors products, brands, divisions and dealer network structure

  • Highly effective presentation and communication skills for dealer/field training and communications

  • Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills and strong business acumen

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments

  • Proven ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, vendors, suppliers, dealers and leadership team

  • Knowledge and familiarity with sales, invoicing, and vehicle tracking applications

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Working knowledge of various GM systems and applications such as GM Global Connect, Order Workbench, VTIMs, BARS, OTDS, GMDID, VOMs or POMs.

Role Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related area

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in fast paced, automotive, sales environment

  • Dealership/Retailer field sales contact experience

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a passion for accuracy, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify solutions with limited precedent and exercise sound judgment on complex, non-standard problems requiring strategic insight.

  • Confident, polished communicator with excellent oral and written presentation skills; comfortable engaging with leadership at all levels.

  • Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills across functions and organizational levels.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative.

  • Ability to apply highly specialized knowledge and extensive practical experience in distribution and logistics, as well as organizational expertise across multiple areas within a function or across functions.

  • Able to set objectives and take responsibility for achieving metrics and Key Performance Indicators that directly influence the attainment of results, providing measurable contributions to functional outcomes and aligning with GM's strategic priorities.

  • Must be able to design and develop impactful and innovative solutions to considerably broad and complex problems, often spanning across multiple disciplines within the business unit.
