Job summary:
A Manager in the Digital Trust practice plays a critical role in delivering technology, data, and AI‑enabled assurance and advisory services. The role is accountable for end‑to‑end engagement delivery, leading self and delivery teams, client relationship management, and the advancement of Digital Trust capabilities through innovation, data transformation, and responsible AI solutions development and adoption.
Key responsibilities:
Primary duties (non-negotiable):
Client Delivery & Trusted Outcomes
· In this role a manager will need to help lead deliver high‑quality engagements across technology risk, digital assurance, cybersecurity, data governance, and AI‑related assignments. The role requires the application of sound professional judgment to evaluate risks, controls, and governance structures and to provide clear, actionable insights that enhance client trust and decision‑making.
· The manager's responsibilities will include planning, scoping, budgeting, and executing engagements efficiently, while managing timelines, resources, and financial performance across multiple concurrent assignments.
Technology, Data, and AI Assurance
· The role requires deep capability in identifying, testing, and reviewing technology controls across system and program changes, access management, SDLC processes, computer operations, and IT governance.
· The Manager assesses both manual and automated application controls and evaluates the effectiveness of digital control environments across core business systems.
· A key focus of the role is the delivery of digital trust, data, and AI‑related assessments, including:
· Data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle controls · Analytics reliability and data‑driven decision‑making risks
· AI model governance, ethical use, explainability, and regulatory alignment · Controls over AI‑enabled processes, automation, and decision systems · Supports clients in strengthening trust across people, processes, data, and technology platforms.
Data Transformation & Digital Enablement
· In this role, a manager will actively support clients undergoing data transformation and digital enablement initiatives. This includes assessing data architecture, governance frameworks, analytics maturity, and control design, and advising on how data can be used responsibly to enhance operational effectiveness, assurance, and trust.
· The role requires the ability to bridge technical understanding with business impact, ensuring Digital Trust services are practical, relevant, and value‑adding.
Innovation & Future‑Focused Delivery
· This role will contribute to the innovation agenda within the Digital Trust practice, leveraging data analytics, automation, continuous controls monitoring, and emerging technologies to improve methodologies, enhance insights, and increase delivery efficiency.
· The role requires a forward‑looking mindset, with accountability for identifying opportunities where AI, advanced analytics, and automation can be responsibly integrated into assurance and advisory services.
Client Relationship Management & Market Growth
· The Manager acts as a trusted advisor to clients, maintaining strong relationships and serving as a key point of contact throughout engagements.
· The role contributes to the growth of the Digital Trust practice by supporting business development initiatives, assisting with proposals and tenders, and contributing to thought leadership aligned to technology, data, and AI‑related trust themes.
People Leadership & Capability Development
· The Manager leads, coaches, and reviews the work of junior consultants, ensuring technical excellence, professional development, and adherence to quality and risk standards.
· The role demonstrates strong people leadership, creating an inclusive, high‑performance team environment and actively contributing to the development of Digital Trust capabilities across the practice. · Quality, Risk, and Professional Standards · The Manager ensures all work complies with firm risk management, independence, and quality control policies and expectations.
Communication & Executive Engagement
· The Manager produces clear, concise, and professional reports that articulate risks, impacts, and practical recommendations.
· The role requires confident communication of complex digital, data, and AI‑related issues to senior stakeholders through reports, presentations, and workshops, translating technical concepts into business‑relevant insights.
Continuous Development & Thought Leadership
· The Manager is expected to continuously develop expertise across Digital Trust, data, AI, and emerging technologies, maintaining relevance in a rapidly evolving risk and regulatory landscape.
· The role contributes to internal capability building and external market positioning through knowledge sharing and thought leadership.
Skills and competencies: Core skills required: (non-negotiable, essential skills required for the role, both technical and soft skills)
· 7-10 years of experience in technology risk, digital assurance, AI governance, data governance, cybersecurity, or related fields.
· Minimum 4 years’ experience managing teams and leading engagements across these areas.
Qualification Level:
· IT (BSc or BCom)
· BSc Computer Science
· BSc Engineering · BCom Information systems
· BCom Management accounting
· BCom Internal Auditing
· Business Science
· Certificate Theory in Accounting/Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting
Additional Qualification Level:
· Professional qualification: CA(SA), CIMA, CISA or CIA Additional Competencies: (Additional desired skills and competencies)
