What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Manager to partner with our Senior Manager, Digital Risk, in driving a robust and forward-looking risk management strategy for the Strategy, Digital & Data (SD&D) Business Unit at RBC Insurance. This pivotal role will focus on ensuring the proactive identification, evaluation, mitigation, and continuous monitoring of risks across all risk types, fostering a culture of resilience and informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in advancing the Digital Risk model as part of the broader Agile Operating model, working closely with product owners, functional risk partners, and key stakeholders to embed risk management into the core of our digital and data initiatives. By leveraging strategic insights and fostering cross-functional collaboration, the successful candidate will help shape and implement innovative risk solutions that align with organizational objectives and industry best practices.

What will you do?

  • Establish a digital risk dashboard to deliver real-time insights and enhance visibility into potential risks, enabling proactive decision-making and risk mitigation.

  • Strategically design, build, and implement robust guardrails to prevent and detect digital risks, including data breaches, cyber threats, and regulatory non-compliance, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Implement a continuous improvement framework to regularly review, update, and align guardrails with industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring resilience against emerging threats.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize high-risk areas, enabling the development of targeted, risk-based controls that address critical vulnerabilities and enhance organizational security posture.

  • Facilitate comprehensive digital risk assessments to proactively identify and address potential threats and vulnerabilities, supporting a culture of risk awareness and preparedness.

  • Foster cross-functional partnerships with IT, compliance, and business teams to ensure alignment of risk management strategies with enterprise goals and to drive a unified approach to digital risk mitigation.

  • Deliver measurable outcomes, including enhanced risk visibility, reduced exposure to digital threats, and strengthened compliance posture, contributing to the organization's overall operational resilience and trustworthiness.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in digital risk management, information security, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of industry trends, threats, and best practices in digital risk management.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with agile methodology and concepts

  • AI experience and/or knowledge

  • Canadian or international regulatory compliance background

  • Knowledge of Insurance regulation

  • MBA

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is:

$67,000.00 - $110,000.00
