Job Summary: You will serve as a MANAGER in the WEAPONS CONTROL & INTEGRATION DEPARTMENT, MARITIME WARFARE CONTROL SYSTEMS DIVISION of NAVSURFWARCENDLD. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Major Duties:

  • You will provide technical and administrative leadership to include strategic planning, overall task coordination, budget administration, and resource management for a highly capable branch unit in a research and development environment.
  • You will facilitate defining next-generation missile launching systems concepts and target assessments methodologies.
  • You will provide technical leadership to grow and maintain a diverse work force of technical specialists, to include setting the goals for the branch, providing overall technical oversight, and ensuring the quality and integrity of the products.
  • You will perform the full range of technical and administrative supervisory functions, will have delegated responsibility for most human resources actions, and will make recommendations concerning human resources matters.
  • You will perform the full range of supervisory duties, to include performance evaluation, personnel development, and the implementation of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) programs and objectives.

Qualifications: This is an Interdisciplinary position that can be filled by the 0801 (General Engineering), 1301 (General Physical Science), 1515 (Operations Research, 1520 (Mathematics), or the 1550 (Computer Science) series. The series that the selected applicant will be placed into depends on their qualifications. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 pay band (GS-12/13 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist overseeing, coordinating, or evaluating engineering programs, resources, or work performance. Examples of qualifying experience may include: Leading, managing, and motivating a workforce, providing for personnel development and retention, organizing the organizational tasks and resources effectively, and conducting hiring and recruiting; Providing technical and strategic leadership for a multi-functional team of scientists and engineers developing and integrating complex weapon launching systems; Providing accountability for internal and external collaboration, establishing critical partnerships with sponsors, customers, and stakeholders.
