Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a candidate with outstanding leadership skills to fill a Cyber System Engineering Manager 1 position in Annapolis Junction, MD.

What You'll Get to Do:

This is a dual role position encompassing both people leadership and direct technical performance. This position will manage a team that may support multiple programs, projects and initiatives. The position requires daily on site presence and is located specifically in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. 

This role will focus on two primary areas of responsibility, People Leadership and Technical Performance.

People Leadership responsibilities include:

• Ensure team has a clear purpose and clear roles;

• Communicate information to employees in a timely manner to help them to be productive and engaged;

• Give direct feedback to people on her/his team about performance and potential in the organization;

• Find and develop talent;

• Staffing and workload forecast;

• Coordinating specific staffing requirements;

• Employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development;

• Participation in recruiting events and interviews, identifying rotational opportunities for employees, and performance management;

• Ensure personnel within the discipline team are meeting technical requirements of supported programs;

• The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and have success as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;

• Work with Program Management to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Technical responsibilities include:

• The candidate must have a technical performance role on one of the classified programs at Annapolis Junction that can account for at least 80% of their time. Technical performance responsibilities will vary with each candidate but will align to mid level System Engineering scope such as:

  • Model Based System Engineering design responsibilities

  • Product Owner or Scrum Master

  • requirements generation

  • test, test automation

  • DEVOPS responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

• Current, active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph less than 10 years old through the MD customer.

• Experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams

• Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

• Bachelor Degree and a minimum of 5+ years’ experience

• Demonstrated experience of frequent contact with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active performer on one of Annapolis Junction's classified programs.

• Familiar with Agile methodologies

• Previous Functional Management Experience

• Experienced in all aspects of the Engineering processes

• Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty

• INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (Associate or Certified Level)

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
