Summary
The Corporate Communications Manager is responsible for devising and executing strategies to promote and protect the company’s brand and reputation - through strategic media, community relations and corporate social responsibility initiatives, stakeholder campaigns, company events and crisis communication, as part of the company’s public affairs team. Our manager is a company spokesperson and should bring exceptional written and oral communications skills, the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences while ensuring consistency and accuracy, and experience working with national and local media on complex and controversial issues. In concert with public affairs colleagues in Government Affairs and Airport Affairs units, and under the guidance of the Director of Corporate Communications, the Corporate Communications Manager creates and executes comprehensive media and public affairs plans/campaigns to promote company priorities and initiatives, and engender strong relationships with community leaders and groups, elected officials and other stakeholders. This manager also develops, directs and oversees charitable partnerships, including key national and local initiatives; and designs and coordinates special events and activities to support those partnerships. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, experienced communications strategist who enjoys the challenge of tackling a multiple, diverse issues in a dynamic environment, where emerging issues compete daily for priority with equally important established and longer-term projects.

Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education:  Bachelor’s Degree
Education Details:  Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field required.
Years of Experience:  Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in Media Relations, Public Affairs, Journalism or related field. Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively with members of the media, business and civic leaders, community groups and members of the public.

Preferred Requirements
•    Demonstrated experience and outstanding relationships with media, including national / industry placements.
•    Voracious consumer of news with the ability to identify emerging stories / themes with potential opportunity or impact.
•    Experience creating and managing complex communications plans.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects under deadline.
•    Supervisory and/or team management experience preferred.
•    Ability to work outside of regular business hours as an on-call media responder and for company events.
•    Creative and curious with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
•    Ability to work with people at all levels in the organization to strategize, develop and implement programs.
•    Knowledge of, and experience working with Associated Press style guidelines
•    Experience with major social media platforms and familiarity with social media management software (i.e.: Hootsuite, Buffer, Spredfast).
•    Knowledge of standard software tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.); knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other photo editing and layout tools preferred.

Job Duties
•    Serve as a company spokesperson and on-call responder to address news media queries and work with journalists to proactively place company stories with appropriate media in key markets.
•    Develop, write and edit press releases, briefings and other materials, distilling complex information for a variety of audiences.
•    Lead development and planning for company events involving multiple departments and executive leadership.
•    Engage with communications colleagues with airports, government entities, regulatory agencies and other industry partners through regular dialogue.
•    Develop crisis communications plans and strategies, taking a leadership role in communications emergency response, participating in company-wide drills, and coordinating interdepartmental tabletop exercises.
•    Organize media training; brief and prepare company leaders for key media interviews and community appearances.
•    Research, develop and coordinate corporate charitable/community programs; Coordinate company participation in events supporting those programs.
•    Identify and develop key charitable partnerships in line with corporate giving priorities. Evaluate incoming proposals for support and respond appropriately.
•    Develop social media messaging and posts related to corporate communications initiatives and project plans.
•    Prepare community presentations and background information.
•    Consistently seek out innovative opportunities to promote the company through media, public affairs, community relations campaigns and charitable partnerships.
•    Direct and coordinate the work of staff and teams supporting corporate communications projects.
•    Travel to events, meetings and conferences, as needed.
•    Maintain consistent and accurate files on all correspondence and data.
•    Ensure any direct reports understand and apply our Customer Commitment and customer service standards to their daily responsibilities, as appropriate.
•    Model Allegiant’s customer service standards in personal actions and when providing leadership direction.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
