Manager, Content Management
Engaging in content management, content strategy, and content business development, the Content Management team is tasked with proactively managing Disney’s portfolio/inventory on a global basis – primarily with respect to distribution, productions and acquisitions – and delivering continuous and accurate programming and rights information to the Content Sales and Direct to Consumer (DTC) teams in those efforts.
The Manager, Content Management will serve as a subject matter expert on content across multiple divisions of The Walt Disney Company (“TWDC”), including but not limited to Walt Disney Studios, Twentieth Century Studios, Searchlight, ABC News, Freeform, 20th Television, FX, and National Geographic, as well as additional content produced, acquired, or distributed by TWDC. In this capacity, the Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—such as distribution, sales, marketing, legal, and finance—to ensure seamless coordination and strategic alignment. The role will involve leading efforts to support the placement, distribution, and sale of content, driving business objectives while fostering strong partnerships across internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
Own and optimize Airtable tracking for assigned producer groups, ensuring comprehensive and accurate metadata (studio, platform, episode count, run time, premiere date, distribution rights, synopsis). Leverage this data to deliver timely, actionable insights to cross-functional teams including Content Sales, Deal Management, Direct-to-Consumer, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Research.
Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with internal production teams and third-party producers, serving as a trusted liaison to monitor development pipelines and production milestones for features and series.
Serve as a key business contact in facilitating the distribution of live award shows, overseeing multiple high-impact areas and delivering executive-level, client-facing presentations that reinforce TWDC’s brand and content strategy.
Develop and facilitate global content presentations for Content Sales, driving the development of compelling decks and talking points. Provide critical updates through presentations, trackers, press alerts, and monthly rights-change communications to enable informed decision-making across regions.
Support and streamline format licensing activities for third-party partners, including contract review, approvals, and deal tracking, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
Drive planning and execution of major Content Sales events, such as LA Screenings, client engagements, and internal Sales Summits. Oversee critical workstreams to deliver flawless experiences that strengthen client relationships and showcase TWDC’s portfolio.
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across TWDC, including Disney+, Rights Management, Technical Servicing, Finance, Production, Business Affairs, Legal, and Deal Management, to align strategies and deliver integrated solutions.
Lead ad hoc content initiatives and special projects, such as themed packaging, competitive analysis, pitch decks, newsletters, and system enhancements, contributing to innovation and operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or equivalent work experience
5+ years of relevant experience
Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint in Windows PC
Ability to lead and prioritize multiple projects, tasks and queries at any given time across multiple functional disciplines
Proven track record in effectively managing and building strong relationships with a broad array of stakeholders
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Exceptional organizational abilities and strong attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (experience in writing for a variety of audiences and creating presentations is required)
Experience communicating and presenting to varied audiences, including international teams and senior management
Known as being a team player with a reputation for collaboration
Ability to think strategically and creatively
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills and techniques
Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Airtable
Strong affinity and appreciation for content creation, creators and the creative process (i.e., individual will have watched or be tracking new series and movies and have a strong knowledge and passion for all types of content, particularly content produced by TWDC)
Understanding of, and demonstrated course work and/or experience in content distribution, production, representation, marketing, finance or accounting
Experience at/with content studios, distributors, production companies or agencies, formats distribution/sales, legal and/or business affairs or rights management
#DISNEYPLATFORMDISTRIBUTION
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $119,700 - 154,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
