Manager – Container & Edge Engineering

Your role

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking leader to head the Software Platform Capabilities team, which plays a critical role in strengthening Saab’s platform foundation across Kubernetes-based environments, core infrastructure, edge-computing capabilities, and real-time operating systems.

In this role, you will lead a skilled team of engineers responsible for delivering and evolving foundational platform technologies. You will oversee platform strategy, drive engineering excellence, and ensure that Saab’s software platforms meet the stringent requirements of performance, reliability, and security, while creating a supportive framework for the team to work effectively.

As part of your leadership, you will also focus on coaching and developing your team, fostering collaboration, and nurturing a motivating and inclusive work environment. By helping your team set priorities, providing guidance, and supporting their professional growth, you ensure that everyone can contribute confidently and meaningfully.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and support the Software Platform Capabilities team in its ongoing development
• Oversee the design, evolution, and lifecycle of Kubernetes, infrastructure, edge, and real-time OS capabilities
• Define and implement strategies for platform governance, stability, and long-term sustainability
• Ensure platform components meet requirements for performance, security, compliance, and real-time reliability
• Drive development and maintenance of core platform services, reference architectures, and reusable components
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, transparency, and knowledge sharing
• Collaborate with teams across Group Digitalisation and other business areas to align platform capabilities with operational needs
• Work closely with leadership to ensure strong adoption and engagement around platform technologies
• Support both cloud and on-premise/hybrid platform initiatives, including infrastructure automation and edge deployments

You will be part of the Enablement Tech & Platforms department within Group Digitalisation, which drives digital innovation through shared and secure platforms and technologies that support Saab’s operations.

Required:

• Proven leadership experience within platform engineering, infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, edge systems, or real-time OS development
• Documented ability to build and guide teams to achieve measurable results
• Solid technical background in software engineering and platform development
• Experience designing or operating mission-critical platforms or distributed systems
• Proficiency with technologies such as Kubernetes, Linux, containerisation, CI/CD, and version control (Git, GitHub, GitLab or similar)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent
• Fluency in Swedish and English

Preferred:

• Experience from large-scale software or platform organisations
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems and edge-deployment architectures
• Understanding of security, compliance, and safety requirements for regulated environments
• Experience working in hybrid cloud, on-premise environments, and with infrastructure as code

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
