Working with general supervision, the Manager, Communications develops and executes brand and business communications strategies for stores and field management that align with key business metrics. The Manager, Communications delivers quality communications through advanced planning of content and task management for the stores and field management in collaboration with cross-functional partners. Principal business outcomes include the cultivation of an environment that engages, inspires, and motivates employees to deliver improved business results.

This position also implements a proactive and responsive communications strategy to promote a clear understanding of GameStop’s vision and business goals. An associate in this position may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor’s advance approval.

This position is onsite 5 days a week in Grapevine, TX.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a proactive communications plan each quarter to support strategic initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • Foster clear and open flow of information to enhance the field’s understanding of GameStop’s vision and business goals.
  • Assist stores, field management and other key partners with task management.
  • Compile and manage the Field Calendar to ensure important dates and events are identified and scheduled in a manner that promotes optimal execution and favorable business impact.
  • Manage the content and design of planning tools to facilitate the successful execution of GameStop field initiatives.
  • Manage the content of Main Menu and other informational sources for field management and stores.
  • Synthesize the identified communication needs of the field organization into communication plans that improve the clarity and presentation of information, increase productivity and enhance understanding of business goals.
  • Coordinate SSC communications to the field organization to ensure effective timing and consistent themes.
  • Identify and develop feedback methods to enable employees to provide information on communication strategies and activities through the use of surveys, focus groups and other research mechanisms.
  • Review and approve all communication to the stores and field management.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of standard communication guidelines that support the needs of the organization while preserving clarity, consistency and focus.
  • Collaborate with the corporate communications team to ensure that messages delivered to the public match messages delivered to the field organization.
  • Supervise and develop support staff, specifically Specialist and Analyst on the Communication Team

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE):

  • Accredited bachelor’s degree in business, communications, journalism, media relations, marketing or related field or equivalent corporate communications experience required
  • At least 3 years experience in corporate communications or retail management required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficient ability to design, development and implementation of communication strategies
  • Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient relationship building skills, including the capacity to predict and manage behavior, build and leverage cross-functional partnerships within and outside of the organization, and leverage influential leadership
  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives
  • Proficient knowledge of retail store operations and enhancement of customer experience through front-line employees
  • Ability to recognize discrepancies/errors in written/recorded data/information including the ability to initiate and respond to work errors in a professional manner, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Outlook and Word
  • Working knowledge of HTML and web page design
