Job Description

The Role

The successful candidate will combine technical ability and creativity with strong interpersonal and communication skills to support our growth across Continental Europe and North America.

As Manager, Client Solutions for PL Re’s Savings & Retirement line of business you will work alongside the Insurance and Deal Pricing teams, as well as Global Client Solutions team to deliver on our ambitious objectives.  You will be responsible for leading on client relationships, delivering new business volume through strategic deal management and seeking out innovative solutions to complex problems across longevity and asset-intensive reinsurance structures.

The strategic importance of our Continental Europe and North American expansion will provide significant visibility with the S&R Executive Committee and with wider senior global stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Client Management

  • Building strong working relationships with key day-to-day contacts across clients, consultants, brokers/EBCs and banks, and demonstrating visibility personally and on behalf of PL Re.
  • Fulfil basic functions of client management, including effective preparation and follow-up, effective chairing of meetings, collaboration with team members to ensure consistency of approach across markets.
  • Maintain cultural alignment in approach to client management, acting as partners not suppliers, exercising pragmatism, being creative and solution driven in meeting client needs/objectives.
  • Ensuring regular communication kept open with key contacts through regular catch-ups and multi-disciplinary meetings as necessary.

Quote Delivery & Structuring

  • Active ownership of quote process from initial receipt through to delivery and follow-up focussing on stakeholder management and managing of governance processes. Supporting AVP, Client Solutions in triaging of opportunities, setting quote strategy and proposal of commercial terms.
  • Adopt and promote a solution mindset to commercial problems, co-ordinating the input from subject matter experts with in-depth knowledge of client needs to solve complex propositional challenges.
  • Active involvement in Pricing sign-off process including input of wider market context and providing constructive challenge.
  • Support AVP, Client Solutions in contractual structuring, treaty drafting and negotiation.

Strategy

  • Key role in executing on strategy for asset-intensive and longevity only reinsurance across the Continental European and North American markets.
  • Continually develop Client Networking strategy seeking to ensure key client stakeholders across all levels maintain strong connections with relevant individuals at PL Re.
  • Support wider efforts within Line of Business to deliver on S&R workstreams as part of Pacific Life Enterprise strategic objectives over 2025-2030 timeframe (‘Strategy Next’)

Technical Knowledge

  • Demonstrating strong technical knowledge covering deal structuring, product features and pricing.
  • Developing understanding of the Continental European and North American markets, clients and industry trends and proactively share this knowledge with the whole Client Solutions team and wider business.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong and relevant technical experience in life (re)insurance, life consultancy or pension brokerage/EBC.
  • Be a qualified actuary with relevant post qualified experience.
  • Have a good understanding of the UK, Continental European and/or North American life (re)insurance market(s) and preferably knowledge of the longevity only and asset-intensive reinsurance structures.
  • Be highly analytical, with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
