Critical Facilities Engineers are members of the Critical Facility Engineering team that play a crucial role in maintaining the overall health of our data center’s infrastructure systems to ensure that our customers receive best-in-class data center services. The Critical Facility Engineers at Vantage manage vital electrical and mechanical infrastructure as part of our daily operation and possess expertise in mission critical facility management. Responsibilities include facility maintenance and capacity management, performance optimization, and providing rapid response and performing repairs if unplanned events occur.
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and capable Manager Chief Engineer for our Site Operations team at Vantage Data Centers located in Hong Kong, reporting to the Director of Site Operations. By ensuring your Critical Facilities team is knowledgeable and competent, you will ensure a fully reliable infrastructure that emphasizes energy efficiency and continuity of service. You will need to be knowledgeable and experienced in running a facility, with an eye for detail and are driven to maintain a high standard. This is a leadership role that will require your Critical Facilities team to work effectively with engineering and various support teams. This will enable them to implement, maintain and respond to requirements whilst meeting compliance with our management systems and policies.
Maintain a high level of quality by making sure the team is proficient in planning, preparing, performing, and reporting on maintenance activities
Ensure the Critical Facilities team maintains fully reliable infrastructure, emphasizing energy efficiency, continuity of services, and budgetary constraints.
Ensure that members of the Critical Facilities team are using monitoring systems and performing regular site inspections to always maintain ongoing surveillance of the site
Oversee Critical Facilities team workflow/work orders, training plans, event planning, customer communication, hiring, and performance management
Provide guidance to the team regarding the more challenging aspects of maintenance such as: critical documentation development, testing plans, sparing methods, capital planning, replacement at end of life and expansion of existing facilities, while eliminating risk to our customers and their businesses.
Overseeing and executing daily engineering and operations functions at the facility to ensure safe and effective operation of the equipment.
Provide and ensure emergency standby duty is in place for 24-hour, 7 day a week mission-critical data center operation
Ensure all physical processes and activities performed by the team are followed in accordance with Vantage's Mission Critical Facility work rules and approved procedures
Ensure all workers adhere to VDC safety policies and utilise appropriate PPE in all activities undertaken onsite.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field, or equivalent work experience required
Possess registered Local Government certification to perform electrical switching and/or mechanical services operations
5+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision
3+ years of experience in management position with 5 or more direct reports
Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
Skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and other office applications.
Ability to understand building automation systems (BMS/CMMS), and proficiency in design and technical documentation applications (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore).
Lead teams by example and encourage process improvement
Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment and deliver results
Be assertive, committed, and able to perform multiple tasks independently and efficiently
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated report writing, attention to detail and complex organisational skills
