About The Position

The Manager, Chemistry is a leadership role responsible for directing and leading Chemistry personnel in ensuring compliance with environmental and hazardous material regulations while implementing and supporting programs that control corrosion, minimize radiation dose rates, protect the environment and maintain equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

· Manage and direct a team of approximately 20 employees, with an overall annual budget responsibility of approximately $5.3M dollars.

· Provide independent oversight and support of Callaway Energy Center (CEC) activities in Chemistry per INPO Guidelines. (INPO 13-005)

  • Provide expertise and conduct periodic reviews of the CEC Chemistry Program.
  • Maintain an awareness of and provide support for corrective action to resolve immediate and potential operating problems affected by plant water chemistry.
  • Maintain a long-term perspective of plant water chemistry.
  • Support the chemistry and engineering staffs during routine inspections.

· Direct Chemistry personnel in providing chemical controls and analytical services to protect the integrity of plant fluid systems and to ensure compliance with environmental and hazardous material regulations.

· Supervise and coordinate the chemistry program to maintain the safety of plant personnel and the public while supporting plant operations.

· Ensure proper administrative and departmental procedures are followed such that Chemistry personnel perform their duties in a safe, legal and efficient manner.

· Establish the duties and evaluate the performance of personnel involved with chemistry activities.

· Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required. (Four years of directly relevant experience (in addition to the required seven years of experience) may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.)
  • A total of seven or more years of experience in Chemistry, Radwaste, Nuclear Operations or Radiation protection is required.
  • Three or more years of supervisory or high-level team/project leadership is required.
  • Experience in radiochemistry, operations or in a supervisory/managerial capacity at an operating nuclear power plant is required.
  • The Manager, Chemistry shall meet or exceed the minimum qualifications for a Technical Manager as delineated in ANSI 3.1, 1978. T/S AC 5.3.1

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good decision making, communication and human relations skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Thorough understanding of radiochemistry preferred. Proficiency with budgeting preferred. After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position. Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access.

Working Conditions

The Manager, Chemistry works a standard day shift in an office/plant environment. Callouts and working rotating or Outage schedules may be required to support plant operations.

Compensation Range:

$131,900.00 - $204,400.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
