Position Summary

The Manager of Business Development Growth will manage Major Accounts & Financial Planning Analyst(s) to meet and exceed growth objectives, financial targets and customer expectations. They will also oversee these revenue streams with a focus on generating near term ATM while developing innovative opportunities for future ATM generation.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide continuing analysis of territory, and growth potential. Based on this insight, develop a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of corporate sales goals, customer addition objectives, and tariff optimization among existing customers and ATM targets.  
  • Direct the development and implementation of strategies to support sales objectives, financial targets, performance goals and operational efficiency.
  • Mentor, develop and support Team to promote focus on current and future revenue growth through direct sales activities across currently designated and potential additional “Growth” business lines.
  • Provide accurate sales results and forecasts for Management for all BD and Growth Sales Team activities. 
  • Strengthen relationships and increase ATM through the acquisition of new customers in the Major Accounts and New Technology sectors.
  • Manages BD/Growth Team through selection, orientation, training, goal setting, targeting, coaching, recognizing/rewarding and disciplining/terminating; as applicable.
  • Proactively identify business development opportunities to generate revenue and grow customer base.  Ensure execution of strategies in close cooperation with other departments to facilitate success.
  • Develop and maintain a network of professionals including industry partners, chambers of commerce, consultants, competitors and others to have up to date insight into key regions, market sectors and technologies to promote business development initiatives.
  • Assist teams in presenting solutions, closing business, developing new customers and retaining existing customers.
  • Manage and continuously improve business development process including relationship management, interdepartmental communication, process efficiency, closing negotiations. 
  • Oversee and support the sales team through advocacy, goal setting, activity tracking, training, coaching, recognizing/rewarding and disciplining/terminating; as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five to ten years of sales and/or marketing experience
  • Including a minimum of two to five years of sales management experience.
  • Equivalent work may be considered in lieu of degree

Required Skills:

  • Experience leading business to consumer, business to business and key account efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience with identifying and developing revenue generating opportunities in the energy marketplace.
  • Experience managing a fast-paced sales environment with a high number of direct and indirect reports.
  • Significant relevant work experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers.

Preferred Background:

  • Experience in and/or solid knowledge of the natural gas industry, emerging technologies and applications highly preferred.

    Compensation Range:

    $114,000 - 182,400

    We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
