A Hong Leong Bank (HLB) branch manager is responsible for overseeing all branch personnel and daily operations while ensuring sales, profitability, and customer experience goals are met in compliance with banking regulations. 
Key Responsibilities
The branch manager role involves a mix of financial, managerial, and operational duties. 
  • Business Growth & Sales: Develop and implement sales plans, assess market conditions, and identify sales opportunities to achieve branch targets and expand the client base. This includes collaboration with various product partners like wealth management and trade services.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, hire, train, and manage branch staff performance. They provide coaching, development, and motivation to foster a strong, high-performing team environment.
  • Operational Efficiency & Compliance: Direct all operational aspects to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the branch. This includes managing the branch budget, allocating funds, and ensuring strict adherence to all applicable laws and banking policies to maintain the bank's integrity and pass audits.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Oversee customer service operations, resolve customer problems, and build strong relationships with clients and the local business community to enhance the bank's presence and reputation.
  • Reporting & Strategy: Draft forecasts and business plans, and communicate information on effective practices, competitive intelligence, and business opportunities to other branches and headquarters. 
Requirements and Skills
Successful HLB branch managers typically possess: 
  • Branch management experience in a banking or similar financial services role.
  • Strong leadership, human resources management, and excellent organizational skills.
  • A thorough understanding of banking regulations, products, and services.
  • Strong sales acumen and a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
